The calligraphy lesson requiring students to write, "There is no god but allah..." was, according to the teacher, from a national teaching curriculum.

We now ban Jesus from schools, but require students to learn about Islam?

If they did that to my child, I’d put those tattoo instruments in a rather unpleasant place.

The henna complaint is stupid, although the school should not have allowed them to be applied without permission. The tattoos in the pics do not indicate any religious preference or any kind of controversial decoration according to my wife (from Mumbai). Neighborhood kids used to come around and get these when our kids were younger. Even more stupid is the supposed connection between “Muslim and Hindu faiths” lol. About the only thing correct in the article is that henna tattoos are difficult to remove.

” It can take several days before the vegetable dye fades. “

It’s not a tattoo. It’s very temporary. It’s like getting your face painted at the Faire. Kids love it, but parents should have been in the loop.

I’m sure it doesn’t obligate her to join the Jihad.

The calligraphy lesson requiring students to write, "There is no god but allah..." was, according to the teacher, from a national teaching curriculum.

This has already proven to be a false claim. There is no such standard teaching curriculum literally in existence. There are only the claims by the PC crowd that claim it as Established Fact.

Despite the lack of proof in any way...

Really ugly job. I’ve been to an Indian wedding where the bride had her hands done and it was very pretty. It does last for some time. Even if it’s a beautiful job the school overstepped.

You would think a school would have better sense than this, if only from a health liability perspective. I have a student who is so allergic to foods and substances that she has to bring her own hand soap to school, among other things (including epi-pens). She is only five, but is sharp enough to tell you what she can and cannot eat, drink, put on her skin, etc. I doubt anyone at school has tried to paint her with henna, though. I can only imagine her parents’ reactions if she came home with temporary tattoos!! Yikes. They are very nice people, but it could still be Lawsuit City.

My friend’s grandson recently informed him proudly: “Papa, I know all about Islam.”

Gene asked for particulars. His grandson told him he learned in government school that Islam is the one true religion, that there is one god, Allah, and Mohammed is his messenger - and so on.

It is really, REALLY bad already folks.

The only thing Hindus have to do with Muslims is that the kill each other with some regularity when they both aren’t going after the Christians.

I think this was/is stupid and the parents have every right to be angry.

It is also important to understand that henna tattoos are not permanent. It doesn’t make it right, but I say that as a point of information. The children were not tattooed in a traditional, permanent manner.

This much outrage over a temporary tattoo? Wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out to be a fake story designed to make conservatives look dumb. Freaking out over henna is pretty darn silly.

On many levels, including that of common sense, this henna skin marking activity was inappropriate for a school. All things Eastern are held up as the cat’s meow, while things Judaeo-Christian are considered out of bounds for the public school. I don’t see public school classes having kids do “Ash Wednesday Multiculti” forehead art projects at school. If they tried that, what a howl there would be from the Left.

not exactly a tattoo if you could wash it off. At first I was concerned. Tattooing a child without parent permission is definately wrong, but its just paint that could be washed off so not a big deal
