Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens is now playing. Those who have seen it, let's discuss! Those who haven't seen it, hit your back button now.
The only original character that did not look OLD was Admiral Ackbar.
Is the Admiral’s first name Allah?
I’m getting tired of all the articles about how Harrison Ford wanted to kill off Solo for a long time. I thought,Ford didn’t write the story so he shouldn’t have a say. If he hated the part so much, why the hell did he try out for it?
This is an old article but I wonder how much did JJ take from the Zahn series?
Is the New “Star Wars” Trilogy the Story of the Solo Twins and Darth Caedus?
Given what I have seen on the non-spoiler media,
abrams steals from the first movie, does it all over again, recycles, OVER PC the plot, and puts jar jar binks in as director.
> “Is the Admiralâs first name Allah?”
I don’t know, but it was a trap.
Thought it sucked.........
And it will still bring in a billion dollars in ticket sales. I am skipping this crappy PC movie. I am sick of hearing about the young actor/actress co-stars plucked from obscurity who both are British which is ridiculous.
Snope reminded me of Gollum that Serkis played in LOTR
I don’t know that series, but it does summarize the plot so far. Depends on Han’s metabolic state.
Yes, I thought the same.
Alternate universe where Gollum got the ring but didn’t fall into Mt. Doom?
Rent money.
It sucked but you didn’t see it?
Han Solo is the only sanity in the whole franchise.
Shoot first,
fly casual,
and
I know.
Not for me. i went to see it with my 2 boys and we thought it was overly PC. No need for a master/padawan training with this one, she immediately was able to almost kill the new darth Vader because, well, sheâs a woman. In another series of scenes, the black storm trooper keeps trying to hold her hand as they run and she keeps telling him that she doesnât need to hold his hand, but then later on, she extends her hand to him and he readily grabs it. Lots of crap like that to make her a super feminist icon. Additionally, the new darth Vader came off like a pussy - he cries! The producer, Kathleen Kennedy, and the director, Jj Abrams said they wanted to make a movie that a mother could bring her daughter to see. Well, I thought that was the one from 1977. Ni this PC loaded crap. Nice special effects though.
...
Thanks. Just as I suspected. If I want to see a tough space chick I’ll go back and watch Alien again.
Harrison Ford first got the part because he just happened to be on the set (as a carpenter) and the actor playing Han was missing during rehearsal, so Lucas had did read the lines to fill in - and liked him so much he replaced the other. So Ford took the job as his big break.
Contractual obligations may have given him no choice when he lost interest. Of course, large paychecks help.
I’m not surprised one got written out if the script.
Like I said earlier: the plot recognizes history doesn’t repeat, but it does rhyme.
Is that the one where they give Sauron a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas?
I thought Abrams butchered the Star Trek’s Khan’s character in the remake of Wrath of Khan. Just didn’t like that movie at all.
I remember when JJ blew up the planet Vulcan in the first Star Trek movie. He seems to get a kick out of touching the untouchables.
Here are my issues with it...
1. Capt Phasma was a massive letdown. Looks completely badass but gets taken prisoner and never fires a shot. What a waste of awesome imagery even if she comes back in the next movie.
2. Stormtroopers are no better soldiers or pilots this time around. Just drop like flies vs. anyone.
3. Harrison Ford was simply too old to be in the story. Sorry but I couldn't get past it.
4. If Fin was raised from birth to be a stormtrooper, why did he fold before he even fired a shot? Just gave up. Needs some back-story.
5. Did the First Order really let 5 people destroy their entire base? Thousands of troops but not a bit of defense against a few lightly armed rebels.. Come on..
But those are small compared to the biggest sin committed by this movie... HOW THE HELL DID REY DEFEAT REN WITHOUT A BIT OF TRAINING??? She picked up Luke's lightsabre and beat a trained "Sith" like she's been trained from infancy. She was able to use the power for the force without a bit of knowledge of what it is. That alone almost warrants a thumbs down.
