Maybe because there are many things
we think we know that just ain’t so.
My experience with GPS is that it generally gives you the first available exit, but not the best one.
My wife can't even follow a GPS that talks to her.... I think her operating system came pre-programed to not take advice.....
Within a week of reading in mainstream media “scientists” tell us there is NO difference between male and female brains. Sure.
I just plug it into the car. With an address, the most directionless, clueless person in the world could reach their destination without additional help. They keep improving them. Now it even shows lanes and signs, points to the lanes you need to be in, etc. Plus it tells you exactly what to do. I love it.
Also they can take into account time of day and traffic, sending you the best route for time of travel.
Too late. I already did.
The feminized generation - literally.
The only direction I know is up & down. I also have problems telling my left from my right ~ many years ago I started pointing when telling someone which way to turn.
LOLOL. That’s funny. The GPS does occasionally mess up, but really, she should be able to follow it. It is pretty easy.
Don’t generalize too broadly.
A recent study touted that male and female brains were no different. Here we learn that apparently men and women use their brains differently and hormones have an effect. I wonder how long before this gem is discredited because demonstrating that men and women have different capabilities is definitely not PC.
That's what I do. I have no trouble with map reading or directions.
I used to orient myself according to landmarks (i.e. "right at the Wawa"), but when you do most of your driving through the woods with Wawas popping up here and there, every road looks alike, and you're forced to pay attention to route numbers and street names as a matter of survival.
I have literally written “Left’ on the left-hand (driver’s side, YOUR SIDE) window pillar and “Right” on the right-hand (passenger side, MY SIDE) window pillar of my wife’s car. In chalk, so it’s easy to remove, but I don’t know why I don’t get Alibaba to manufacture and market peel and stick removable labels. I KNOW I’m not the only guy who has had this experience, or the one where she doesn’t know her left from her right but is happy to give you directions every time you drive somewhere “You DO know where you’re going, right?”
Doesn’t Lubbock has that, although boring, great system of naming streets A to Z for north/south and 1 to 100 for east/west? It’s so easy to get around town. In Amarillo, you had to know the presidents in order. Argh.
This is why God created men and women. Perfect, yes?
And SHE always knows the perfect gift for the nephews and nieces.
Sounds about right. I’m a walking compass and my wife can’t for the life of me right any location on a map.
It was my luck to stop in town and ask a resident how to find a place, only to get directions like, “Drive down the road a piece and then turn left where the old school house used to be.”
When I first got a GPS, I thought vocal directions were great.
Then I learned about the British voice and that was sexy for a couple of weeks.
Now I just turn off the voice and am forced to pay closer attention.
I found myself getting annoyed and tuning it out, just like other womens voices.
