......"I have never heard of putting to death a fully conscious and responsive patient."......

Terri Schiavo. She was awake and responsive. She was executed without breaking any law by a probate judge like deciding who gets the silverware. Some of the Constitutional types that are anal about Ted Cruz, know that to be executed, you must first be found guilty of a capital crime. I'm sick of people saying she had a bad life they they wouldn't want to live. They don't have a vote.

Some huge differences. She likely could have been cared for at home with her family being trained. She was not on a Ventilator. Ventilator dependent changes things greatly in long term care. It can not be done at home nor in most nursing homes.

You’re right.

I used to have more faith in my fellow Americans, and especially my fellow FReepers. I thought that if we could just educate them on the finer details of Terri Schiavo’s situation, they would see the light. I was wrong. They don’t care about the details, or the truth. The problem isn’t a lack of knowledge. It’s a lack of morals. We’re seeing it now, even from those arguing for this man’s right to life, on the grounds that he’s more deserving than Terri Schiavo was. They argue that as long as he doesn’t have a severe cognitive impairment, he retains the right to life. They used to draw the line at whether a person was born or unborn. They keep moving the line. When the line moves behind them, and it’s their turn to face the sword, who will be left to defend them? Who will want to?
