While I had intended to bypass the president's speach tonight, I was overcome at the last minute by a morbid curiosity: How big of a bomb could he drop?
I was not disappointed.
President Obama tonight delivered a tense, rehearsed, non sequitur.
He first laid out his strategy for the...what? Defeat of ISIS?
But he framed it as a strategy nevertheless. He enumerated all the elements of his current, failed, course of action.
And then he said, with that school marm tone of his: It's the right course. You know, the course that isn't working.
Then, like the committed Marxist he is, went after guns. I say, I'd certainly rather there be unfettered access to the best of modern firearms, than a non-judical "list" developed by Lois Lerner and her ilk saying who can, and cannot purchase a firearm. I believe a majority of Americans would say the same. And, certainly the courts would agree.
But, I'm not so sure about Republicans.
The, and this is the part that is likely to sit most crooked with Americans, he went on to defend Islam. Muslims are everywhere you know, and they're good Americans.
While I'm sure that's true in many cases, it just goes to show Obama's essential affinities lie not with Western Civilization, but with Islam.
Who can deny Islam is at the root of 95% of all terrorism in the world?
He's asking America to deny reality.
I resisted the urge to vomit and watched the whole thing also; I am going with a triple scotch myself.
Then pet the dogs and go to bed.
If the dogs were present, they might need a scotch also.
Ryan is hard at work on articles of impeachment as we speak[/s]
Thanks for the mention.
I don’t trust him or anyone else back there right now, and I mean ANYONE holding office there today.
The Republicans have developed an art form out of stalling and placating. We’ll see how earnest he is when the articles are released.
The ones against Clinton were so idiotic, there was no way anyone in the Senate would have voted for them.
Gone were the most serious charges. It was ridiculous.
This could have turned out much worse if Farook hadn’t gotten into an argument at the Christmas party. Instead of their plans to use bombs, the Farook family got all in a huff and decided to hold a “workplace violence” event. Horrible it was, but not on the Paris-like scale Farook was prepared for.

He’s delusional (but we all know that) if he thinks Assad can be overthrown with drone strikes. And he says he will not commit troops in a protracted battle, which is clearly what it would take.
Does he think he can engage Putin to do his dirty work for him? What ounce of flesh would Putin exact for such a misguided strategy?
