One of the more interesting things that has surfaced in the last 20 years is that while we sank a Japanese midget sub at the mouth of the harbor on, I think, the evening of Dec. 6, there were at least two others that successfully got in the harbor and added their torpedoes to those of the airplanes.
I show students a photo taken seconds after the attack started and you can see torpedo wakes in the water, two geysers hitting (I'm guessing the Oklahoma) and then two wake circles, which appear to be torpedoes whose gyros have gone out and are circling.
