In a recent disquieting article for the New York Times, Choire Sicha investigates a curious new challenge for gyms: Some men want to shower and change without ever being publicly nude, and they expect their gyms to build locker rooms that accommodate that desire. Drawing upon the experiences of gym managers and architects, Sicha explains that over the last quarter-century, men have grown increasingly uneasy with being naked in the locker room. While older men generally remain comfortable being undressed among others, younger ones insist on maximum privacy, pining for a way to strip, shower, and change clothes without even a flash of nudity.

The headline shows me that the degradation of society is speeding up.
Some people like privacy and decency
I am not comfortable naked because i get cold easily.
The Germans and Russians are very good at building “spas.” Hecky Durn.
You can sit there, all thin and wrinkly, or you can have another bowl of banana pudding and fluff that stuff out. MUCH more pleasurable than ironing. OUCH.
Then in a gym on a base, a guy really creeped me out. I worked out at lunch and so did he. His locker was right next to mine. He ALWAYS managed to be in that locker room and shower when I was. ALWAYS. If I was late getting there, he was still hanging around the locker piddling around. If I cut my workout short, he was in the locker room right after I was.
It was never anything you could say exactly, without sounding like a kook. It sounds a little kooky just writing it. He never said or did anything that was objectionable. But I swear that guy was stalking me. I switched my workouts to early mornings.
I was a grown man when this was going on, and it still gave me the creeps. Imagine a young boy having to deal with that.
I'm sure the younger men don't want a video of them to wind up on youtube (older men didn't grow up with that) and also many of the young men would have been raised in the Oprah era (talk show horror stories)-- most young people have grown up with good touch/bad touch and all that drilled into them so that they're much more protective of their bodies (old habits and all). Plus the homosexual thing is blatant nowadays.
As a woman, I can definitely empathize with the feeling of being stalked. It is creepy, and I’m glad things turned out okay for you. Imagine how terrible it is for our servicemen who have to go through this now with people in power over them. Zero is evil.
This thread seems gay.
I’m surprised the individual didn’t come right out and say, being uncomfortable with being publicly nude is prima facie evidence of HOMOPHOBIA and should be dealt with accordingly.
The real problem is that some men are uptight and unwilling to confront their gayness. This dude’s gaydar is never wrong and he’ll tell you that homosexual men have NO interest in heterosexuals, therefore if he’s attracted to them they must be gay.
I don’t sweat nudity but I ain’t much to look at either

Was his name Rahm Emanuel?

Massa Details Naked Shower Fight With ‘Son of the Devil’s Spawn’
Fox ^ | 3/8/10 | staff (No pun intended)
It sounds like the kind of bad dream that only congressmen have — White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, stark naked, approaches you in the locker room to give you a piece of his mind for not supporting the president’s budget.
Only this actually happened, according to Rep. Eric Massa, the embattled New York Democrat who resigned Monday and used his last hours in office to settle some scores with party leaders...
“I’m sitting there showering, naked as a jaybird, and here comes Rahm Emanuel, not even with a towel wrapped around his tush, poking his finger in my chest, yelling at me because I wasn’t gonna vote for the president’s budget,” Massa said. “Do you know how awkward it is to have a political argument with a naked man? ... It’s ridiculous.”
Have him use the girl’s shower room 5 minutes before the girls enter to use it. Give him enough time to soap up and split without intruding on their own privacy.
Let his lawyer explain why that is ‘wrong’.
Next to Camp Pendelton ... “Clothing Optional” beach.
What a dumb subject to write about.
I've been in the Navy since 2003 and I've never seen a non-partitioned commode. The last gang shower I saw was my barracks in boot camp and we were in an old barracks unit, slated for destruction. I suspect the new ones have stalls.
The article is right. Millennials aren't comfortable being naked in front of each other. Several articles lately about the transgender changing room issue go on to say that few high schoolers use the showers after gym class these days. Far different than when I was growing up and everyone showered after practice.
When I went to high school, the swimming pool was strictly in the nude. Every guy there was naked. Weird at first but after a couple of times it’s just another thing. This was at the largest public high school in Chicago.
Hugh?
“If anyone needs me, Iâll be in my blanket fort.”
At the age of 55 that sounds like fun! And now I might even be able to figure out how to keep the blankets from sliding off the chairs during the night!
One time when the kids were little they were going to camp out in the backyard with some friends. But it was raining. So I moved the furniture out of the living room and put the big tent up in there! Probably 8 kids stuffed in there. With the old TV sitting on a chair in front of the entrance.
Not only gang showers but the toilets had no walls or doors. If you needed to take a dump you were there while others were brushing their teeth or doing the same thing as you, all in the open.
Also, I grew up where there were gang showers in Junior High and High School for both gym classes and the sports teams.
I wonder what they have now?
