Former Trump support explains to Ted Cruz why he no longer supports Trump
Ted Cruz was talking with a former Trump supporter in Iowa who said that one of the reasons he stopped supporting Trump is because he dissed Iowans:
Sounds like Trump's lashing out at Iowans back when they put Carson at the top of the polls had an unintended effect, that some of his supporters would leave him and move on to support Ted Cruz who is now virtually tied with Trump for the top spot in Iowa.
Well I gotta say that I personally love that strategy.

Cruz will close the border. He has a very smart, multifaceted approach to dealing with illegals that has been shown historically to work.
Cruz’s plan is to deport criminals and any illegals that come into contact with law enforcement, while cutting off welfare and employment. With the border secured and incentives drying up, millions will self deport.
Five times as many illegals self deported during Operation Wetback as were deported by the program directly. When Arizona passed their immigration law, the highways were backed up with illegals leaving.
This is a smarter, less costly approach than just rounding them up, deporting them at great expense only to expedite and process, again at great expense, the “good ones” back in.

Especially since Cruz is a superior candidate in all ways except 24/7 drama.

I have also supported Trump. I would still vote for him in the general, but I like Cruz’s approach to immigration better.
I also am concerned that Trump will not do well in the debates against Hillary. He has skated by on a crowded stage on the sheer force of his popularity. One on one, his lack of depth on the issues will be obvious.
Cruz is the best we have to eviscerate the Hildebeast.

the name calling is unnecessary and tedious. Not to mention the whining. More drama than having teens in the hours. Yeah, everyone dreams of voting for someone who trashed them. I wonder if you guys will still love him when it is time to vote. Then, Hillary’s voters won’t change their minds so I guess you guys won’t either.
So, Cruz’s plan is essentially Trump’s plan with a bit more verbiage. Good to know.

Context is everything. Handicapped people can be jerks. They can also hide behind their disabilities to get away with things they otherwise couldn't. Those aren't untouchable issues, no. And if someone thinks they're going on, then the disabled abuser is fair game. Disabled abuser. Don't hear that very often, do you? That's the problem. You want to honour the disabled, treat them like full human beings and hold them to equal standards, including getting smacked for being jerks. That's real equality.
Not to worry. Trump will take her apart piece by piece. Cruz has no crossover appeal and I don’t think he can win the general election. That’s a problem, regardless of debates.

Cruz just has not had the name recognition that Trump has. The more he has had exposure to a national audience in the debates, the more support he has gained. He would energize Republicans and Reagan Democrats.

If you really liked Trump you'd know that whatever he says or does is only meant to stir the msm, and you'd not get upset at the msm tweakings.
If you can’t figure that out from the tapes, then I can’t help you. This reporter has covered Trump for at least ten years.
I'll be blunt - I don't trust Cruz as much on this issue as I do Trump. And this is THE single most important issue. If we don't get it right, literally nothing else will matter. We can jibber-jabber all we want about the gheys or abortion or whatever else, but at the end of the day, if we radically alter the demographics of this country to the point where Democrats always get supermajorities every single election, none of it will matter.
Given Cruz's comments previously about being open to some form of amnesty, etc., he has a higher bar he has to jump to be genuinely trustworthy on this issue.
Actually, he didn’t diss Iowans.
He dissed Iowans who believed Carson’s story about stabbing a kid in the belly with a knife only to have the knife blade break just at that moment so the victim didn’t receive a single scratch.
