This was taped September 29th. Don't judge too harshly, I was lucky to make it to the studio! After all these years of watching Jeopardy and yelling at the TV, "Who let THAT idiot on here!?" now it's my turn to have them yell it at me! :D
Yes it was really fun. Do you remember Maggie Speaks?
Congratulations! You did great. Just trying to get on the show took a lot of guts.
I always wondered how much the studio pressure affected performance. It is easy at home with a beer or two.
I just figured out the point you were making...no,*I* did poorly....you did very well indeed!
Vaguely ... I remember the pre-test .. name Santa’s reindeer
... what’s on the back side of a penny etc
Didn’t know about the “professional” game show contestants until I did the try out
The contestant coordinator ... I got to the pre-test ... didn’t get on the actual show. My mom and my sister flew down. This was before the online test
Congratulations for getting on the show. Your dream story about Alex Trebek was a little creepy.
I have been an avid Jeopardy fan since the original Art Fleming version. I take the online test every year but they have never called me. My best categories are sports, history, aviation, and geography. I hate the opera, french, and art categories.
I was yelling “What is 1789?” in Final Jeopardy. Thought that was obvious since George Washington’s first election was a foregone conclusion.
My daughter tried out for the kids tournament in 2008 when she was in the 5th grade. It was at “The Plaza of the Americas” in downtown Dallas. 300 kids nationwide were selected to tryout. My daughter was not picked for the next round of tryouts but it was a good experience for her. She won the Garland ISD spelling bee that year in the 5th grade and competed at the Dallas County Spelling Bee at UTD the same week as the Jeopardy tryout. Missed the first word at the county bee. I still tease her about it.
doh!

I wasn’t nervous but I was surrounded by such extraordinary people that I wanted to make a good impression.
I've always said that Freepers are among the SMARTEST!
X)
I don’t think my story was creepy. I thought it was interesting, and incidentally true. Alex chose it, by the way, not me.
Go Joyce! You rock!
You did great. I am impressed. Interesting final jeopardy...I got it right but I guessed that it was George Washington’s
You go to find my Jeopardy station, that's how. Oh, you probably also need a television set. And be sure it's plugged in. If you cut your cable already, you may be SOL.
Thank you but I’m Elaine :P
Nice going from southern Utah. Proud to meet a famous FReeper!
“My best categories are sports, history, aviation, and geography. I hate the opera, french, and art”
Now see that’s where you’re going wrong. I know diddly about sports but I love history, aviation, geography, AND opera, French and art.
I SO wish there’d been an aviation category. I usually run those.
