Congratulations for getting on the show. Your dream story about Alex Trebek was a little creepy.
I have been an avid Jeopardy fan since the original Art Fleming version. I take the online test every year but they have never called me. My best categories are sports, history, aviation, and geography. I hate the opera, french, and art categories.
I was yelling “What is 1789?” in Final Jeopardy. Thought that was obvious since George Washington’s first election was a foregone conclusion.
My daughter tried out for the kids tournament in 2008 when she was in the 5th grade. It was at “The Plaza of the Americas” in downtown Dallas. 300 kids nationwide were selected to tryout. My daughter was not picked for the next round of tryouts but it was a good experience for her. She won the Garland ISD spelling bee that year in the 5th grade and competed at the Dallas County Spelling Bee at UTD the same week as the Jeopardy tryout. Missed the first word at the county bee. I still tease her about it.
I don’t think my story was creepy. I thought it was interesting, and incidentally true. Alex chose it, by the way, not me.
“My best categories are sports, history, aviation, and geography. I hate the opera, french, and art”
Now see that’s where you’re going wrong. I know diddly about sports but I love history, aviation, geography, AND opera, French and art.
I SO wish there’d been an aviation category. I usually run those.
