Russian authorities have gifted France with an adorable police dog in a show of support following the massive terror attack that killed 130 people and a shepherd named Diesel that was blown to pieces by a suicide bomber.
Diesel, a Belgian Malinois, died in a hail of gunfire by female suicide bomber, Hansa Aitboulahcen, during an anti-terror raid in suburban Saint-Denis on Wednesday, according to France's National Police.
Now, the Russian government is sending over Dobrynia, a furry new companion named after a Russian folklore hero to help "in the fight against terrorism," Russian government officials said.

Indeed, the Russian/French alliance goes back a long time and re-emerges every so often, it’s actually a lot more convincing friendship than “America’s first ally” guff which has never been particularly believable.
It’s amazing how quickly France and Russia suddenly slotted in together in the days after the Paris attacks, immediately working together and coordinating their air strikes. There are pictures in the media today of Russian armourers writing “This is for Paris” in Russian on bombs being loaded on Russian planes.
I can’t think of a period in my lifetime when the US seemed so unimportant and played such a meaningless part in a major crisis in the world or was so out of touch with what the rest of the world expected of it. American leadership has evaporated and Putin (and no doubt China too among others) seems very happy to fill the vacuum.
