While the rest have expressed some good views, some of their agenda such as amnesty and importing Syrians will do an enormous amount damage. Rubio and Jindal do not even qualify under the Constitution. One does not need to be a lawyer to understand that. Controversy has existed around Cruz. IMHO, he qualifies.
Ann’s drawing a corollary between Obama’s lack of Eligibility to Ted’s obvious status as Natural Born Citizen is disgusting.
We know Ted was born in Canada, but was never a Canadian citizen nor was he ever a Cubian citizen. Obama has been a British subject and Kenyan citizen and that is not to mention his Indonesian citizenship.

There are two views on this legal issue. It does us no good to wish it wasn’t so. It is my view that Cruz needs to get this out of the way with SCOTUS as soon as possible. Many of us , me included , were quite sure of obama’s ineligibility because of his birth off US soil, in Kenya. The issue is not that Cruz’s citizenship . That is a given. The framers added a special clause that one did not have to be just a citizen but a “Natural Born” citizen and I don’t think they were talking Cesarean section. What did they mean? Many scholars believe “natural Born meant ‘Born here” because there was expressed concern about a Foreign take over by one in “sheep’s clothing” i.e. citizenship from outside the soil of our country.
We all know this is coming from Hillary if he emerges. If he doesn’t get this resolved it will inhibit his selection even as vice president. I wish it wasn’t so but this must be resolved quickly by SCOTUS. We cannot wait. I hope he wins this legal fight. He is a great leader.

The most common sense definition of a “natural born” citizen is one who is a citizen by virtue of birth - in other words, no additional steps are necessary for the person to become a citizen. Since Cruz was a US citizen at birth by virtue of being born to a woman who is a US citizen, that would seem to qualify him.
Regardless, I doubt that any of the people raising the issue would have standing to challenge this in court. That was the big problem with people wanting to challenge Obama’s eligibility - lack of standing.

Well, I would take a District court but either way the Amicus money will be flying and this will have fast track review at the Court of Appeals and Emergency resolution at the Supreme Court. There are stipulated facts so it is not rocket science. It will come down to the original meaning of the Founders. Time to get this final — not at the convention.

Good Point. However, I believe the New Hampshire Election Commission will have standing and any candidate the suffers loss in that certification. Standing simply requires that you show direct damage. My guess is that someone gets directly damaged here thus standing for this Federal issue.

Trump..yes, he’s a windbag, but politicians like Rubio, Paul and Cruz are responsible for this misery.. They all say what we “need” to do to “fix Washington”, but when elected, do nothing except go along, point fingers and run for re-election. If they have the answers, as they say they do..then why don’t they push legislation while a senator. Yeah, I know, Cruz called McConnell a “liar”..that was for show..all theater, all the time. obama is killing our country..Cruz, Paul, Rubio, etal are enabling him by doing nothing..nothing to stop him. If I were Cruz, I would introduce articles of impeachment every day..that would get my attention. Telling me what “we” need to do falls on deaf ears..”We” desperately need a Patriot like Trump..not a Politician like Cruz..

We’ve been living under Arbitrary government since the 1930s. The federal government is in general abeyance for the majority of its activities.
The issue is not citizen by birth but whether Cruz is a NBC according to the Presidential eligibility requirements of the Constitution Section I Article Two:
No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
It has never been adjudicated in the courts. If you recall in 2008, the Senate commissioned an opinion authored by Lawrence Tribe and Ted Olson on whether McCain was eligible to be President under the Constitution. Here is what they opined.
The Senate issued Resolution 511 finding McCain eligible citing the Tribe-Olson opinion. The courts have never adjudicated the issue. They need to do that more than ever. We have 300,000 to 400,000 anchor babies born each year in the US. They are citizens at birth with no need for naturalization. The same holds true for children born to green card holders and tourists.
The Tribe Olson opinion said that Obama was also an NBC based on the fact that he was born on US soil. Obama was never naturalized. He was a citizen at birth even though his father was a foreign national.
Canada has birthright citizenship making Cruz a Canadian citizen at birth. He only recently renounced that citizenship.
If Cruz gets the nomination, you can bet the Dems will use this issue. It would be better to clear it up now and push SCOTUS to take this issue up ASAP.
Cruz is as NBC as Obama. While I agree that he’s technically ineligible, I no longer care.
Everyone who looked the other way when Obama flaunted the rules has no right to complain about Cruz.
The others must realize that these are desperate times and there is no other candidate as correct and principled on the issues.
