Squatters Trash Home of Deployed Soldier, so Bikers Show Up & Bring KARMA

Army Spc. Michael Sharkey was stationed in Hawaii when he learned that a pair of ex-cons had broken into his New Port Richey, Florida, home and claimed it as their own.

By the time Sharkey was able to return home, Julio Ortiz and Fatima Cardosa had already changed all of the locks and established residency with his address.

“They are criminals,” the soldier told local news affiliate WFLA. “I am serving my country, and they have more rights to my home than I do.”

Legally, there was nothing Skarkey could do.

But bikers don’t always care as much about the law as they do vigilante justice.

Not saying biker gangs are all criminals or criminals at all, but I now fear the police more than I fear the criminal or biker gangs.

Then they put you in jail. The best thing to do is do what you have to do and then keep your mouth shut. There is nothing now so bad that involving the police won’t make it worse.

“Gee, your quoted text still mentions the locals encouraging the squatters to leave..”

Your fake article fails to give proper credit to the two veteran’s groups responsible ...

Particularly no credit to Lauren Price who works to support veterans every day!

My link gives proper credit to Lauren Price. Shame on your fake article for not giving proper credit.

“Price, a disabled veteran who served in Iraq as a lead convoy driver, took control of the property.”

“If those bikers hadn’t of intervened, the authorities would still be milling about, clearing their throats and shuffling their feet.”

To set the record straight, Lauren Price of Veteran Warriors set up a fund for a lawyer which obtained a 24 hour eviction notice. The squatters left before the end of the 24 hours.

No evidence that any ‘bikers’ were involved.

“Funnier are the FR posters that dream up BS like this and post it”

How many fake stories have we had since the Waco shooting?

Let’s try this: what precipitated the squatters to physically leave?
Quote the text that says what made them physically leave.

Uh.. He’s still hedging.
From his own article:”WFLA’s story provoked citizens to “encourage” the squatters to leave immediately!”

In other words, the locals (the guys mentioned in this thread) showed up and got the squatters to leave.

That's what my original post referred to. I thought perhaps that I had mis-read.

Funny thing - that article was posted a couple of weeks ago and of a sudden, as if it was just posted, there's a spate of replies to it today.

Minerals are not automatically titled with surface.

If you allow someone to ‘use’ your land for a undetermined time for undetermined purposes, there are certain conditions where Adverse Possession may apply. Although, adverse possession is a rarity and is relatively easy to defend from such claim. As with most things, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Funny thing, the squatter’s were evicted in June and the fake biker story got posted in NOVEMBER!

Wrong.
They didn’t leave until the locals encouraged them to.
The paperwork didn’t matter a whit to the squatters.
I can read, can you?

“They didn’t leave until the locals encouraged them to.

Give credit where credit is due!

Lauren Price of VeteranWarriors set up a fund, contacted the TV station and got a lawyer for the owner which got the eviction notice. Within hours of getting the eviction notice the squatters were gone.

Please give credit to Lauren Price who labors every day for veterans.

Not to mention a few other tidbits which your fake biker story doesn’t mention ....

Detectives discovered that Ortiz had been siphoning electricity from nearby homes, the sheriff’s office said. Ortiz was charged with grand theft.

Cardoso was charged with violating probation because she has 21 arrests, including felonies, and was in a home with illegal activity occurring. Ortiz and Cardoso were both arrested in late April.

From your own article link : “WFLA’s story provoked citizens to “encourage” the squatters to leave immediately!”
Which they did.
Squatters don’t care about laws, paperwork, etc.
If they did, they wouldn’t be squatters breaking the law.
