This morning as we entered our church we were met by armed security guards. We also noticed a security guard in the back door. They were dress in black uniforms with a white word 'security' on their backs. We don't know how many were in the church. So I am wondering, is this a precaution to what had happened in Paris? We have several Persian Christian refugees that are members in our church and was wondering if these security officials were there for the Persian's protection? I am wondering if any others on this website witnessed the same precaution this morning at your church. Our church is the First Presbyterian Church in Seattle.
Many good Christians have gone under the muslim knife in the last few years. Martyrs are welcome in heaven.
Difficulty with carrying in our current one is it’s also a [church] school campus, making it flatly illegal to carry a weapon in (never mind state law requiring one get permission to carry in a church).
Sucks that the state is a more likely perpetrator of harm than a thug re: CCW.
Nothing at mine. But then again I doubt terrorists have ever heard of Missouri, much less my county or city.
I actually wore jeans to our Latin Mass today which is totally out of character for me but had no time to change (I swear!).

That’s like painting a target on their backs. They will be the first ones to be taken out. They shouldn’t stand out.
And I would post sign on the church that this is NOT a gun free zone.
The church I occasionally visit in Houston - all the men in the church are armed. It’s a requirement. I pity the fool...
I know a local church where there are concealed carry folks on board at all times. Even during the Trail Life USA and American Heritage Girls meetings that are held at night.

Our Catholic Church has a new sign that appeared on the doors a few months ago and it reads, “No Open Carry” (Open carry starts Jan. 1, in Texas). Concealed carry is fine with our Pastor as he was an army sniper. When hunting season comes, he’s off to the woods.
I would bet he conceals carry every day in his church office and at Mass. We don’t have actual security guards.
WE have somewhere between 5 and 10 members who conceal-carry at church. Might be more.
At our church they didn’t even mention it. It was a great sermon from James 4.

Didn’t hear a word about it at my church either. We got a Thanksgiving sermon, with the explanation that we’re getting at least two this year, with another one coming next week.
Message was about the ten lepers Jesus healed and only one of them turned back to praise and thank Him.
Anyone coming into my church shooting will get return fire - lots of it.

I would feel very comfortable walking into a church with a “CCW WELCOMED HERE” sign in front of it.
Here in the Philippines, sometimes we see military and uniformed security guards at Mass, especially if the mayor or her opposition is attending the service. (lots of political shootings here...think the Mafia and you get the idea).
We get frisked and our bags checked going into the local malls to prevent bombings (which has happened at some malls) and there is a sign to leave your gun outside when going into the bank, but so far we are not frisked going into church, although several churches in the south have been bombed by terrorists.
It’s sad to see that now the US is having churches attacked, but I suspect these things will become more common in the near future.
as for Jesus: well, Peter had a sword and knew how to use it. So security guards only mean you aren’t “tempting God” by doing something foolish like letting bad guys shoot you and your family.
