So I'm walking around the house singing The Animals, "House Of The Rising Sun" to myself. And I wondered what other FReepers sing to themselves...
I believe you are referring to “Guantanamera,” a Cuban song. A Guantanamera is a young woman from Guantnamo province in the far east of that island. It’s “Guantanamera, guajira, Guantanamera....” A guajira is a peasant. One of my good friends when I was stationed there also sang “one ton tomato” until we set him straight.
Just watched that same concert the other day because I wanted to hear “Are You Still Within the Sound of my Voice”.
Heard his version before Rondstadt made it and love the arrangement in that concert.
MMMmmmmm....love the fresh smell of wet weed....before the last harvest....
Oh, Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz.
I’ve also heard it parodied as “One-ton Camaro” LOL
Pink Unicorns Dancing on Rainbows - thanks to my 10 year old son and his incideous iPod.
Tuesday’s Gone and Simple Kind of Man if you really want to know.
Oh my...I love “Are You Still Within The Sound Of My Voice”.
Hadn’t thought about it or heard in some time.
Lighters up for Jon Cage!
“...Dusty Springfield who so understood American soulfulness.”
Hubby loves, loves, loves her. “Son of a Preacher Man” is like his ultimate fave song.
As a huge Sinatra fan, I’ve read that story. Glen played on so many tracks - individually and with the Wrecking Crew.
“Wichita Lineman” is one of the great modern ballads...and love that bass solo Glen adds using Carol Kaye’s 6-string bass.
That said, Sinatra’s “One For My Baby” is arguably the greatest pop song ever.
LOL. I went to the store this morning to get some eggs and low and behold I didn’t see one guy standing around looking for work trimming. I’ve been hoping for rain. Seems to clear out the riff-raff.
Nothing else...
Tonight we are singing “It’s a Rainy Night In Georgia”
Just to be difficult I am gonna make many of y’all think about “Duke of Earl”. And leave.
Today well now..
Here is Love vast as the ocean.
Nobody else can hear what is inside my head.
= = =
And I dare the NSA to do ‘brain waves’ to try.
I watched a movie about Glen Campbell last night and now I can’t stop singing “southern nights”
That is Pink FLUFFY Unicorns Dancing on Rainbows, thanks to my 17-year-old daughter and her determination to drive me insane.
“A Scout is trustworthy, a Scout is loyal,
A Scout is helpful and friendly, courteous and kind.
He is obedient, and he is cheerful;
A Scout is thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.”
The tune is something like “God is Bigger Than the Boogy Man” from Veggie Tales.
