Spot on comment. The generation that gave us Clinton, W,the Iraq War, the exploding national debt, Obamacare and has no problem passing it on to the youth of today and tomorrow

That’s it. I feel so guilty that I’m sending my SocSec check back. NOT. Believe it or not, some baby boomers are conservatives. :>}

Stupid as hell.

Leftists and their policies killed the goose that laid the golden egg. Not one generation or another.

And there are plenty of those in all generations. In fact, a good case can be made that there are more in generations following the boomers.

Spot on comment.
Only if you're a loser looking to blame anyone/everyone but yourself for your failures.

Disagree.

Boomers did the best with what they were given. MBAs took the value out and subsequent generations have not demonstrated innovation and drive.

I’m a baby boomer. Served my country for 24 years in uniform through multiple conflicts, am eligible but have not taken a military pension, continue to work in the private sector (at the 26 year mark and intend not to retire unless health makes me), never taken govt. welfare (unemployment, food stamps, disability, etc), hope not to have to take social security or medicare, even though I’ve paid scores of thousands into those programs.

Who, again, is the problem?

Why not try the career politicians of both parties and the knothead voters who keep returning them to office.

bs. That was not a generational thing, but a left right thing. The left has been running things most of the time since FDR. Blaming a whole generation is just a technique for shifting the blame, so that today’s leftists aren’t tagged with the blame for yesterday’s leftists.

Because Social Security benefits increase faster than inflation, boomers will enjoy bigger checks from the program, in real terms, than their parents did.

I'm on social security, and uh, no they don't, and uh, no they won't. He just lost his credibility right there.

Didn't baby boomers work in that economy and contribute massively to the SS system, pay taxes, purchase houses and consumer goods during that time.

Who spent the SS surpluses? Who spent all that tax money? Who made the laws that sent the manufacturing to other countries?

Who were the ones called upon to go to Vietnam? Mostly baby boomers from what I know.

Boomers soaked up a lot of economic opportunity without bothering to preserve much for the generations to come. They burned a lot of cheap fossil fuels, filled the atmosphere with heat-trapping gases, and will probably never pay the costs of averting catastrophic climate change or helping their grandchildren adapt to a warmer world.

Hey doofas, your generation is the one spending trillions based on your misguided belief that we created climate change. And your generation is the one spending trillions on solar and wind power, which will never provide reliable energy or energy that is competitive with other forms of energy. And your generation is one that wants unfettered immigration, which lowers everyone else's standard of living, while maker our country less safe. The list goes on, but you should get my drift.

There are so many articles on TV, print, internet etc. that pit one group of Americans against another. Class, race, religion have for seven years been used to divide us.

No wonder why people feel (instinctively), that CWII could be upon us.

This bedwetting whiny liberal author voted for Obama and he wants to blame me? I’ve never taken anything from anyone in my whole life. I also worked for 43 years without any handouts from anyone. This candyass is crying because he’s still living in parent’s basement. All you Xer’s and milennials are going to get to reap what you sowed by voting in all these socialists.

That would make sense, but the younger generation isn’t blaming Clinton or any democrat at all. They hold it against conservatives. In their minds, all of their elders are to blame, even those who didn’t want all that spending to happen. We’re big gas guzzlers too. Selfish selfish selfish! No thought at all for future generations. I’m sick of being bad-mouthed like this by the younger generation. I wanted Congress to stop spending us into oblivion, still do, but yet, I’m being blamed for causing the difficulties the younger generation will have to endure.

No guilt here, boy.

Served my country, worked my butt off, STILL working although I could retire.

You darn right I’ll draw every penny of my SS and Medicare that I PAID FOR.

I smile when you remind me that receiving what I was FORCED AT GUNPOINT to pay for chaps the heinie of the whiners in the Me Generation.

No matter what you and your journalist pal think, it won’t change, either; to deny boomers near retirement age the benefits which they were promised — and to which they have contributed — would be political suicide. So get used to it!

Think of it as what you snot-noses earned for giving us Obama.

from article:

“Boomers soaked up a lot of economic opportunity without bothering to preserve much for the generations to come. They burned a lot of cheap fossil fuels, filled the atmosphere with heat-trapping gases, and will probably never pay the costs of averting catastrophic climate change or helping their grandchildren adapt to a warmer world.”

If this doesn’t warn readers of this writer’s stupidity, then nothing else will.

There has NEVER been an election in the United States where just one generation of voters held sway. There are always three generations voting.
