My mom went to high school with him. She said he used to sing at school rallies and other assemblies, and all the girls would swoon. Lee Meriwether went to the same school at the same time, too (she’s good friends with my aunt).
I guess you are not able to read since I said CLASS ACT.....and maybe you are a kid, but everyone knows he’s gay, but there is no activist in him, unlike SOME.
Very mellow voice, one you could listen to for a long time and fall asleep to.
I can see keeping minor stuff, but the big stuff should have been in music museums on loan somewhere, if they are on loan his surviving relatives could then reclaim them. But it would be a shame not to be able to view them.
He survived unhurt that is the most important thing.
We are losing our older generation of singers fast because of age or health.
We are about to lose a 40 year old wife, mom, Christian old style C & W to stage 4 colon cancer.

We came home,” Rory wrote. “Not to die. But to live. To put our hands in each others and sit out on the back porch and watch the sun set as our sweet little baby girl plays on a blanket in front of us. To bask in the glory of the beautiful life He’s blessed us with, and try not to question why we can’t have more of it together. And why He is allowing this to happen. The doctors gave us an estimate of how much time they believe that Joey has, and we both looked at the calendar that hangs by our kitchen door, then I took the calendar off the wall and threw in the trash can. So, we don’t have forever. We’ve got right now.”
Fortunate enough to see his act in Dallas, Texas Hyatt Downtown (on I35)back in the 60-70’s The velvet voice. Remarkable phrasing and vocals. Never realized the man was from Texas just as there was no idea he now lived on the West Coast. Sorry to hear his prized memories are now gone. That really hurts. Especially at this time in life.
I’m sorry about his misfortune, especially at his age.
He looks great, and has a positive attitude. Good for him.
I saw him in concert about six times in the 80’s. Never disappointed. Misty and Chances Are were always my favorites.
One thing admirable, he has kept his personal life to himself. I don’t agree with it but unlike others, he does not advertise it. Interestingly, he was a pretty good athlete too.
I’d have set out rat traps.
Wasn’t he a Decathlete in college?
Loved his singing. A real gay blade but he could sing.
But my point is, what does your comment have to do with the poor guy's house burning down? Answer....nothing.
Mathis IIRC was a staunch Reagan supporter.
I was answering Albion Wilde’s comment when YOU BUTTED IN!!! You have an ISSUE about Gays, not me.
Fortunately, you don't have a corner on the ability to comment on others' comments. I didn't "butt" in. All of us have that same privilege to comment as you do.
