Sorry, but when Colorado legalized pot and made 30 round magazines for an AR-15 illegal, they tore up their “heartland” card.
Peace and love baby, and raggedy clothes, and a long time between showers...Ahhhh, the 'hippie 60s redux'...everything but the love beads. Even Heroin is making a comeback.
How's that for sick nostalgia?
Colorado Springs hadn’t allowed recreational marijuana stores within its city limits. Manitou has dozens of medical MJ stores but only two recreational shots. The El Paso DA’s office just dismissed hundreds of loitering cases because the ACLU Was claiming that the law was unconstitutionally vague, which they usually are. Unfortunately, the winter weather hasn’t had its usual effect on the bum population.
“3. Of all the drugs people use, marijuana seems to cause the least violence.”
Colorado Springs is flooded with sad-sacks in their 20’s hanging out on street corners with signs begging for money. A lot of petty crime where they hang out. Even if they aren’t shooting up the streets, the general effect is not conducive with a safe orderly society.
From observations that seems to be the case, so long as the pot isn't adulterated with other drugs.
About half the pot sold in Colorado is illegal dope, though, and it is competing with legally grown and carefully bred kicka$$ weed.
For an inferior product to compete, buzz wise, it would not be unheard of for that pot to have other drugs mixed in to 'enhance' the otherwise inferior high.
About 25 years ago police in Eastern North Dakota were having a heck of a time with incredibly hyper and aggressive pot smokers. It turned out the pot was "ditchweed" (low THC content) laced with angel dust (PCP).
Nowadays, there are lots of other things which could be mixed in and might produce similar results (meth, for one).
I am not a smoker, but I have a slew of grandkids at that age and a couple of relatives in Colorado, too. If you don't keep up with the pitfalls out there, it is tough to guide your (grand)kids around them.

The killer has now been identified as Noah Harpham, a white guy who's only previous brush with the law was a speeding ticket in 2003.
On the online dating site eHarmony.com, Harpham described himself as a recovering alcoholic and a Christian. The 6-foot-5 Harpham called himself "a big friendly giant." "In Colorado Springs, Harpham, 33, lived modestly in a series of apartments and worked in insurance.
First we have a mass shooter who is speculated to be a Muslim terrorist and 48 hours after the attack, we have a top to bottom media blackout of the attack, the government identifies him as a Christian named Noah.
Far too convenient, we are not getting the truth and they are pinning this on a Christian.
“This is not Detroit or Baltimore. This is in our heartland. “

Yeah, like Ferguson and Chicago. I think Detroit would be considered heartland also.
.
Who suspected this guy was a Muslim terrorist in the first place?
I certainly didn't.
This was a terrorist near a military installation. We have seen such attacks at Fort Hood and Chattanooga. Each of those attacks were by Islamics. The Colorado attack fits the same mold.
You have to admit that it is real fishy that the person named in the attack is said to be a Christian and is even named Noah.
And how many of these mass shootings have not been Islamic terrorism?
You have to admit that it is real fishy that the person named in the attack is said to be a Christian and is even named Noah.
Nope. Not at all.
With the mass shootings we've been having lately, betting against Islamic terrorism is usually a safe bet.
Now when half a dozen men armed with AK-47s shoot up a shopping mall on Black Friday, I'll consider Islamic terrorism.
Noah is in the moslem faith, too, as Nuh.
Look at the real numbers. Look at how many Muslims named Mohammad have committed acts of terror in America, and compare that to how many Christians named Noah have committed acts of terror.
