This gov’t is putting out a cover-butt article.
Ted Koppel has a new book: “Lights Out” - he was on the Charlie Rose show than played all week - and is being covered widely on other outlets.
He is finally exposing what anyone not brain dead - which is a high percentage of Americans today - even Freepers - should be totally aware of - it should NOT be a big “Oh MY” to anyone.
Better take a page, as Koppel says, from the Mormons - and I would add, the Amish. Those who will have a chance to get through it - will have their own well, gardens, fruit bushes/trees, chickens/eggs, know how to hunt/trap - put up the fall harvest for winter - IOW, be able to live like my grandparents did.
Only, they still had use of a car - ie; transportation. That is going to be major.
battery operated radios are inexpensive - communication will be vital.

So many soap recipes you run across have a long list of different types of oils to use. And each oil requires a different amount of water and lye to saponify correctly. I recently ran across this nice and simple 3 ingredient soap recipe.

“FORGET freeze dried and MRE/s! Expensive and unhealthy.”
Nonsense! These are excellent alternatives until the situation stabilizes to some extent. For those with little or no land, these ARE the options. ANd it takes a bit of land to support 2-4 people, throughout all the seasons. Freeze-dried foods are excellent! MRE? For true near-term, immediate emergencies only, and “day trips”.
