The Texans have released quarterback Ryan Mallett after he missed the teams flight to Miami last weekend, the team announced Tuesday.
Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle reported Monday that head coach Bill OBrien wanted to release Mallett before Sundays game against the Dolphins but was overruled by general manager Rick Smith. Releasing Mallett before the game would have left starter Brian Hoyer as Houstons only quarterback.

Very, very embarrassing.
>>Patience Texans, Johnny Football will be available for you soon enough.<<
Manziel or Tebow.
Let the “best yodeler in Harlem” competition begin.
He also led the Broncos to the playoffs that one year he played for them.

Yup.
The QB is the general, and gets the credit. It’s the QB’s team.
Like the superbowl winning, Trent Dilfer led Ravens of 2000, right?
An opportunity for Jerry Jones to pickup another losing qb.
Are you getting “Server errors” as I have been getting?
I had the dreaded double post but you had the thrice-dreaded triple post.
As for your post content — as I said, winners win. The only game stat that matters is the score at the end of the game and the only season stat that matters is W-L.
As a Broncos fan, and supporter of Manning, I can honestly say that I believe Denver management really screwed up. They should have kept Tebow, worked on his motion, and let him understudy Manning.

Oh well, no one seems to listen to me anyway.

They have a pretty good ex-qb evaluating talent in Denver in the person of John Elway. He probably has a leg up on you in terms of knowing what kind of potential Tebow had.
Ok, Ok, I heard you. (Ha Ha.)
Sorry Grams...Us Pats fans are playing this year with a hair across our behinds. :-)
At least you can say that your heads are now as properly inflated as your balls... lol
>>The NFL is a pure meritocracy. If you can play, then you will be on the field, whoever you are or whatever you do off the field. <<
The fact Ryan Leaf took even one NFL snap is proof of that.
>>They have a pretty good ex-qb evaluating talent in Denver in the person of John Elway.<<
I was in Denver for a while and near as I can tell not only does Elway know QB but he also knows furniture, cars, convenience stores, hardware, real estate, manufacturing... ;)
Oh, we were always cocky bastards.
Now we are just angry too.
No, this is the 6-0 Denver defense.
What’s Vince Young up to these days?
Mallett might be my least-favorite player in the NFL right now, because the players I dont like are the ones who wont do the work to get the most out of their natural talent. And there may be no one in the NFL who gets less out of his talent than Mallett.
The Texans team flight to Miami for yesterdays game against the Dolphins took off without Mallett, because Mallett didnt make it to the airport. Mallett explained that there was traffic in Houston, and he couldnt get to the airport in time.
Do you buy that excuse? When you add up the players, the coaches, the trainers and the various support staff that travel with an NFL team, it can be 100 or so people. Theres no indication that any of them other than Mallett missed the flight. Did they all get to the Houston airport by hoverboard? Or did they get to the airport on time despite experiencing the same traffic in Houston that Mallett hit, because they gasp accounted for that traffic when they decided when to leave for the airport?
And, of course, stuff like this is par for the course from Mallett. After Mallett lost out to Brian Hoyer in the Texans quarterback competition in training camp, he no-showed a practice that week. When Mallett was at the Scouting Combine before the 2011 draft, he skipped a meeting with the Panthers after staying out late the night before.
Some players have such a drive to succeed in the NFL that theyll do anything to make it. Mallett is not one of those players. Its a shame because Mallett has a big arm and the talent to be a good NFL quarterback, but he just doesnt have the mental makeup of a successful NFL quarterback.
I’d love to see a former Baylor QB end up in Houston but I doubt the Texans want another ‘all-bout-me’ QB.

Thanks for making me laugh. I needed that!
I will listen. Tebow can hand the ball off to an RB. Apparently that part of the game doesn’t count to those who have never played and watch ESPN everyday. RGIII is a bum making $Millions per year. Not playing. This clown Mallett is probably making good money to be a backup. Gino White & Mark Sanchez come to mind as QB’s making big bucks and should not be playing.
+1. Tony Romo was full of it when he said to Brady “see you in February. “ Cowboys are going nowhere.
The only way Tony Romo sees Brady in February is if he wins a ticket.
