Macs rarely do updates. Certainly not weekly or daily Neither do Windows machines. Windows Update runs once a month.

Windows Update runs once a month. Except when it needs to run out of cycle because of a Zero-Day critical vulnerability being announced and it's too far to wait until Patch Tuesday.
They've happened a few times this year.
