Mets looking for their 5th NL Pennant. Cubs looking to avoid elimination on the day they wre supposed to win the World Series (Back to the Future II)
Agreed, although the Phillies would've given the Mets a much better series. As would the Reds, the Brewers, the Braves, the Marlins, the Rockies, and probably even an Arizona Fall League team or two.
This was an overall pathetic performance from an overhyped team with an overrated front office. Given the dearth of pitching throughout the organization I'm not optimistic for the Cubs' future. The Cards and Pirates are still the class of the NL Central.
Mike Wilbon probably jumped off building tonight the way he slurped the cubs like that.
Drug dealers will be busy tonight. Cubbie fans needs to drown their sorrows. Wonder how many shootings will occur. Cub fans’ lives matter.
If the Dodgers couldn’t do it, I really would have liked to see the jinx broken for the Cubs. Maybe if a Muzzie Cub fan has his way with a goat on the warning track, the curse will end. If it doesn’t end, the Muzzie will still be happy. The goat? Not so much.
Murphy. 6 straight with a homer. Dang.
It’s over. The fat lady is warming up.
That’s incredible!
LOL!
That’s 7 home runs in the post season for a guy who hit 14 in the ENTIRE season and that was his career high.
Cubs should have stopped giving him anything to hit after Game 1.
Hot streaks are EVERYTHING in the Post Season.
Good news is that the Cubs have a great young offense and just need to pick up some Pitchers to be contenders for the next couple of years.
Serious contenders.
Its sad.
Full disclosure: Im a long time White Sox fan...you know, the Chicago baseball team that won a World Series in this millenia.
Whether Cubs fans admit it or not, and I admit it, we knew the Cubs would lose this series. We probably didn't expect to be steamrolled quite like this, but deep down we know winning just isn't the Cubs' thing.
I'm blaming Obama's congratulatory tweet after the NLDS for this ignominious ending.
The butt-kicking is complete. Congratulations, Mets!
Steve Goodman’s song lives on:

Do they still play the blues in Chicago
When baseball season rolls around
When the snow melts away,
Do the Cubbies still play
In their ivy-covered burial ground
When I was a boy they were my pride and joy
But now they only bring fatigue
To the home of the brave
The land of the free
And the doormat of the National League
Murphy was owned in 79% of ESPN Fantasy Leagues this year.
Next year will be a different story.
Never forget the Cubs fans outnumbering Marlins fans at Joe Robbie in 2003 during the regular season and acting like arrogant schmucks.
Karma is a bitch.
WIKI-
Security escorted Bartman and two people who accompanied him to the game toward the exit tunnel from the field. News footage of the game showed him surrounded by security as passersby pelted him with drinks and other debris.
Bartman’s name, as well as personal information about him, appeared on Major League Baseball’s online message boards minutes after the game ended.[11]
As many as six police cars gathered outside his home to protect Bartman and his family following the incident.[12] Afterwards, then-Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich suggested that Bartman join a witness protection program, while then-Florida Governor Jeb Bush offered Bartman asylum.[1]
The question is, will Murphy even be on the Mets next year?
Well at least one thing went the way I wanted it to today.
/rooting for the Mets - I hate the cubs more than the Mets but I don’t like them either.
Boy those guys on TBS are really excited. /s lol
He’s a FA, Mets are still hurting from Madoff, so anything goes.
He writes his own ticket, he is responsible for the Mets going to the WS, and with this kind of momentum, KC is TOAST.
Still cracking up over the Jebster offering asylumm to Bartman.

Down in Florida, Governor Jeb Bush could not resist offering political asylum to the man who had helped the Marlins to victory.
“I promise we will expedite his safe passage,” he said.
Wonder who takes the ALCS?
