“Forty-two percent of low-income women in the United States are obese, and the rate of obesity is even higher among women who participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program — formerly the food stamp program.”
What else to expect from a culture that has no self respect or self discipline
Higher income wives are under pressure to be thin
That’s about it
Orientals aside from Filipinos seem to stay thinner which is weird considering how fat Amerindians are
If you’re my age you see dozens of obese folks daily that you would have only seen once a year in my youth
Higher altitude areas and hot chick areas seem to resist the fattiness
It’s really amazing
I’m in Nashville baggage claim
I’m gonna do a count......
About 25% obese
Less than I figured
I was raised dirt poor, in Mississippi of all places, and I wasn’t fat as a kid..........................
They can't pay the overweight fees......................
Food stamp recipients are far more likely to be obese than poor people who are eligible but don’t take the help. And they’re even more likely to be obese than those with higher incomes.
Fully 40% of food stamp recipients are obese, the study found, compared with just over 30% of those who don’t participate in the program.

The root of the problem can be traced in part to the food purchasing habits of the parents of children participating in SNAP. Left entirely to their own devices, these parents tend to choose high-fat, nutrient-poor foods to bring into the household.

Well that’s what happens when liberals complain about school sports maybe hurting themselves, cant play tag, cant run, oh heavens touch football, baseball, swings, cant have any exercise might strain their little bodies, so they sit home playing on their Gameboys and cellphones.
True...
I was being a bit snarky in that there are still large efforts to “stop hunger”, yet we have this report showing we have the most obese kids as a percentage on the planet...
It just doesn’t compute unless one realizes that both of these are just efforts designed to grow government and to get BigGOV involved more at every level.
One to “fight hunger” and another to “fight obesity”...
I was raised dirt poor, in Mississippi of all places, and I wasnt fat as a kid..........................
neither did we in fact we ate dirt. lol
I grew up the 70’s. We were outside from crack of dawn until dark. My mom literally had to yell down the street to bring us in. My parents still live in same neighborhood & there are lots of kids but none playing outdoors like we used to. It’s sad.
Someone also mentioned the parks - I agree, the local park I used to play at has none of the old equipment. They took it all out.
They never break the data down by race.....
Yep, some parents need to figure out a way to put their gadgets and toys down for an hour and COOK DINNER instead of bringing home a bag of crap every night from the Golden Arses.
I am with you except if there was ever a need for military conscription again, I have read where 60% of potential soldiers would not meet minimum physical fitness requirements.
Many cannot (are not allowed to) walk to and from school, or 3 blocks away to their friends’ homes, or ride bikes.
Was your family on public assistance?
That is sad.
First grade was the best, we were finally old enough to ride our bikes to school, 3 miles away. Unsupervised.
I’ll bet there are a lot of 6th gradeers not allowed to do that, even under a mile.
I’m almost 50, if that’s any reference point.
Remember playing “smear the queer” on the blacktop?
There was none as such in the early 60’s, plus people in my area were usually too proud to accept any from even churches..........
The only ‘Public Assistance’ that was available when I was a kid, before Johnson’s Great Society programs were installed, was commodity programs where people would get a big cardboard box full of basic foodstuffs from government price support programs, like flour, cornmeal, butter in cans, peanut butter in cans, sugar and the like..................
