What about the Muslim extremist in your country?
Boy, do we have them. Thanks to them, all bags and backpacks are searched by armed guards whenever one enters any building. All vehicles are inspected, including under them, before being allowed to enter into any underground parking lots.
The two main Muslim groups in the Philippines are the MNLF and MILF (I know the last means something completely different to you Americans but we used it first!). Abu Sayyaf and others are much smaller.
I think the main difference between us is we’ve been able to control Muslim extremism by the imposition of retaliatory military force and by making the lives of their supporters in the southwest miserable by being controlled by the military. If they want to be able to travel freely, they cannot allow terrorism.
It still happens though, especially in the past 15 years, because our politicians have decided dialog and compromise are better strategies instead of the tried and true reprisals of the past.
