Most of your points are well-taken - but Bartman went into hiding because of persistent death threats, not just because he felt like it.

People get death threats. Especially famous people. It’s part of the price. Now I know he didn’t want to or try to become famous, but he wound up famous anyway. I can understand why people suddenly dropped into that section of reality would go into hiding, but it doesn’t actually mean they’re in danger.
