$50,000 in damages is very low. Makes me think this is a face saving bogus lawsuit to cover-up the real cause of his injuries. Rumors abound that he got in a fist fight with his brother.

Yes, I also thought that $50,000 is a very low figure for someone as important and influential as Dingy Harry. Besides, if you start that low, how can you agree to “compromise”? No smart tort lawyer would agree to that.

The article said “at least $50,000.” It is likely that the complaint has to allege damages of at least a certain threshold amount to invoke the jurisdiction of a particular trial court level; most likely a superior court.
