Pictures like this always make me pine for my youth. I live in the city but when I was a boy the stars were so much more numerous. Now the night lights blot them out and you have to go deep into the country to see them well.

I remember the night sky on various pheasant hunting trips to N.W. Kansas, out in the middle of nowhere. Brilliant stars and no surface/city lights to dilute them........You could see every single one....

When I’m out in the area where I’m from, it’s a whole different sky compared with Grand Rapids, which isn’t a huge city; with all the suburbs (and that would go out a long way) there’s something in the area of a million people.
