I would have liked more episodes of Blackadder II.

In theory we’d always like more of all the good shows. But more episodes probably wouldn’t have been any good. They got greenlit for the numbers of shows they had good ideas for. More episodes would have been filler.

Talking Dead

I look forward to Talking Dead as much as I do to TWD. I usually need a respite from the intensity of the show; and, Talking Dead usually provides that to me.

Six episodes is a whole “season?”

When the original Walking Dead first premiered on AMC the first "season" was only 6 episodes. I figured they wanted to see if it would fly as a regular show and if the fans of the books would transfer the loyalty to the show. Both of those things happened, and now the season for TWD is usually 16 episodes (I think). Most shows on "cable" have shorter seasons, I've noticed. Perhaps it is the shorter attention span of audiences nowadays.

I saw an interview awhile back of a showrunner for IIRC Breaking Bad. The interviewer asked why they did not opt for a 20 plus show season like the alphabet Networks. His answer was very direct. It was something like "We have x number of hours and x number of dollars to get a season done. We want to put out the best product we can with the highest quality possible yet keep a realistic schedule for shooting. Bottom line we would rather produce 7 killer episodes than shoot 4 pretty good ones and the rest be subpar."

And being Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Mad Men, Justified etc. all tend to be waaaay better shows than most anything on the Alphabet Networks and have way fewer shows per season I feel they must be doing it right.

Same here!

Last season I got all of TWD spoilers from spoilthedead.com, so I knew everything that was going to happen beforehand. I think I'm done with that...it just takes away the excitement and suspense.

I’ll add “TURN: Washington’s Spies” to that list, which is one of my favorites on AMC.

I just got a friend and her husband into it, and they love it. We’re binge-watching together.

A lot of British shows run in lots of 6 episodes; “Being Human” is one of my favorites, I’ve heard “Black Mirror” used the same format.
That’s enough to give people a large chunk of plot but force dense plotting and character development, without stretching out an arc for 12 to 20 episodes.
The side benefit of 6 episodes is that they can see if it is worth paying for a long run without killing the show half way through the season - and short enough to plop in on another network if a different show is killed after the first few episodes.

First season of TWD was 7 episodes.

I was surprised they didn’t do 7 for this ones’ first year.

How many hours are wasted clicking on threads to tell people how uninterested you are in the topic?

Indeed. Makes no sense.

Yeah me too. I love Turn! I wish the same people would do a series on the 2nd Continental Congress AND the Writing of the Constitution.

I won tickets for a sneak preview of the premiere on Friday at Madison Square Garden. I may let it slide, though. I grew tired of the series late last year and pulled the plug before the season finale.

Yeah, youre right. I thought i watched seven.
