I wonder how many of us had to read “A Miracle Worker” in school, and then pretend to be blind?.
I remember this from either 5th or 6th grade, one kid was Anne Sullivan, one was Helen Keller. The blind kid had to be guided around school for half hour or so by the sighted student, then reversed.
It was so strange being blind. I once lost my electric during a hurricane in the 90s and didn’t have a candle, or flashlight, it was night and the apt was pitch black. That was eerie. Just the sensation of not being able to see,,,,,super scary.
If this woman wished to be blind, she should have just put in a blindfold. Or done a mitzvah and donated her eyes so someone else could see.
Think of the cost savings, don’t have to drink as much.
Looking around at the world...I understand sometimes where she’s coming from.
