I was raised catholic and I still am, although to many I would be seen as lapsed.
But I remember daily that the sacrifice made on that cross saved me and all who believe. I cannot see that as anything but a wonderful, successful gift.
The adoration of Pope Francis this week as if he is God has bothered me greatly. There was just posted here a story about some dimwit congressman who swiped the Pope’s water glass and shared its contents with his family.
Pope Francis is a man. A man with an important position, but subject to the same flaws any man has. The only person who ever lived a perfect life is his boss.
Just my .08 (it was .02, but inflation)
I understand your comments, and will only reference you to my follow-up post to my first reaction.
I don’t want to take the worst possible response unfairly, and other poster did come up with a reasoned thought.
Thanks for your comments.

Spot on. I do not recall John Paul II getting anything close to this type of adoration during his visit to America. And he was a thousand times the leader that Pope Frank is.
I am of a different religion from the Catholic. From earliest years my Lutheran family though separated by theology was very close to Catholic families and children. We played on sports teams together. My Lutheran pastors did not approve of such but we valued the friendship of our Catholic neighbors and friends. However, I don’t recall of any Catholic Pope or even Bishop trying to interfere in our lives and conscience as this Pope. I don’t believe this man is of the Apostles. He is of the south of the borders night club scene from whence he came. His redo US talks makes me think more of a false purveyor than a true leader for Jesus Christ.
“The only person who ever lived a perfect life is his (pope’s) boss.”
Really? Satan lived a perfect life?
