As a chemical engineering student, I spent around 110 hours/week on classes/homework/studying and my work-study job.
OTOH, journalism and English majors started their weekends on Thursday night.
It was hard enough keeping up with the work. It made it harder to have to do the work while others were going to pep rallies. More distractions are not needed.
If colleges are becoming amusement parks, then does that mean the professor is Goofy?
Not long ago, I saw a similar story showing the very high end rooms and amenities that are provided to students.
Much like a doctor sending a van to the homeless shelter to pick up Medicaid patients, universities see students as a warm blooded subsidy machine...only instead of Medicaid, its student loans. And they will bait their hook with water parks and plush apartments.
Its sort of a reverse retirement - you live large, while doing very little labor, for a period of years. Then you spend the rest of your life paying it off.

Meh, water parks are mostly all the same. Seen one, you’ve seen em all.
Except, I hear there is a topless water park in Romania. That’s one I might go out of my way to visit!
