All those taxi drivers in vegas must've been looking with envy on the good money Uber drivers were making this weekend.

I don’t get the bitter aftertaste part. No one’s forcing them to take Uber. They could have taken the cheaper taxis instead — if they were available. Uber offers a choice, and in this case you can choose to pay more — if you really want to get somewhere pronto. Or, if you’re really cheap, or you’ve gambled away all your money, you can choose to walk the 2.7 miles.

Don’t forget there’s a monorail too.

LV newspaper sees supply & demand in action and is confused. Also wonders why they are slowly going bankrupt.

...lots of buses in Las Vegas too. I don’t believe that they have surge pricing.

But some customers weren't ready for the high fares they paid when dynamic pricing hit Friday and Saturday night.

What rubbish. The Uber app lets you pre-check what the ride from point A to B will cost at the current moment before you make a ride pickup request. Price seems to high? Take a cab.

There's this little thing in economic theory called 'The Law of Supply and Demand'. There was a post a half hour before this one decrying the fact that the price of electricity in Texas went negative for a while when the winds were blowing the wind turbines, and no one wanted the power. That's right, the evil power companies were actually PAYING customers to take their power.

This is what happens when government tries to muck up natural laws. The true price for anything is dictated by the demand, not by government bureaucrats. The bureaucrats may be able to tinker about the fringes, but in the long run logic will prevail.
