Defending his brother's record as president at CNN's Republican presidential debate, Jeb Bush had a simple answer: "He kept us safe."
It's an answer Jeb has given before and that conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer has cited as George W. Bush's main legacy.
But it's not true.
For one thing: The vast majority of people killed on American soil by terrorists throughout the entirety of American history were killed during George W. Bush's administration. It's not even close. And this was followed up by the deaths of an even larger number of Americans during Bush's invasion of Iraq.
It would be a bit of a stretch to say that the thousands of innocent Americans killed on 9/11 were Bush's fault, but it's certainly not to his credit that it happened during his administration, and it's mind-boggling that the Bush family thinks it deserves special credit for its success in keeping the country safe from terrorism when no other administration has presiding over an attack nearly that devastating.

Another reason why i don’t watch FOX anymore.
If Patton and MacArthur were still around, Pakistan which created the Taliban and harbored Bin Laden and Saudi Arabia, which spawned Al-Quaeda would have been conquered like Germany and Japan in WW II.
W Bush did not do that and he did nothing when the Iranian IED’s were killing our soliders in Iraq.
We fought another Korea and Vietnam after 9/11, albeit with lower casualty rates and higher technology.
The neocons of the Republican camp eventually decided some Al-Quaeda were good just like Nixon thought there were good Communists in the Cold War like in China and Romania.
The intervention in Syria backed by McCain, Graham etc. supporting terrorist elements spawned the Islamic State.
Yeah, other than the illegal border crossings being upgraded by 500%.
The best news: Jeb is NOT going to come close to winning the nomination. He looks like a deer in the headlights when he's on TV, has no core message that resonates with the base, can't speak all that well, has a tin ear about what to say, and is simply a bad candidate who will never gain traction.
Plus that last name, he can't change it.
All you need to do is post what fool thing he's said or done in any particular day, but pretending Matt Yglesias is some kind of authority to post to help your already accomplished cause is something you might want to rethink.
I think he did keep us safe; but he left the border open.
Bush or Walker are the only hope that we have....Christie maybe.
