Apple introduces “revolutionary” technology already offered by Roku... and an iPen that came with my Note 3 and didn’t even cost me $100.

Apple did not introduce an iPen. I watched the entire event and no such product was shown. They introduced the Apple Pencil, an electronic device that is nothing at all like the dead 25¢ stick that came with your Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Roku does the same thing as the new Apple TV. . . uh, right, sure:

Tell me, does the Roku download thousands of apps and games? Oh, wait, it has a few dozen, not the hundreds of thousands that can be played on the Apple TV from the iPad or iPhone and then more coming on its own tvOS when modified slightly to run on it natively. Here's a quote about games on Roku from Gadgeteer's review of Roku 3: "Just a note about the games: I don’t think these Roku games are going to satisfy any hard-core gamers."

Here are a few other differences you don't seem to know about, bolobaby:

Does the Roku have 64GB or 128GB of native fast storage on it? No? I thought not.
How about mirroring your computer's, phone's or tablet's screen on your big screen TV wirelessly? No, not possible with a Roku.
Hand off playing a game you were playing on your phone right onto your big screen TV without interruption? Uh, no. Not possible with Roku.
Instantly stream your home videos or photos to your TV from your phone where you took them or from your computer where you store them. Uh, no, not from your Roku. You have to sneaker-net them over there on a flash-drive. How antique.
How about asking a question about the movie you are watching WHILE watching it and get an answer shown on screen while you are watching? Uh, no, not on Roku.
How about asking "What did that guy just say?" and having Apple TV back up 15 seconds, turn on closed captioning temporarily and do an instant replay the scene in question so you can not only listen, but SEE what that guy said! Not on Roku.
How about orally telling the system to backup five minutes and play from that point. Nope, not on Roku. . . doesn't do that, but Apple TV will.

So do you want more? There are a lot more.

So, yes, bolobaby, you are just posting ignorant FUD.

Hehe... OOOOOOK Swordmaker. I know you are completely ignorant to all the cool technology that is being developed and in use unless Apple releases it. For the record, my Samsung Smart TV does most of the crap you listed out and I’ve had it in the house for 18 months. The voice activated Roku was just ONE device that Apple is trying to catch up on. I have others that Apple will eventually copy, too. (Oh, and, btw - I can get these devices for half the price Apple charges.)

But that Pencil looks sooooo cool, though! I just HAVE to have one, like NOW! And $100 - what a bargain! I should get SEVERAL so I can like... DRAW awesome... uh... pictures and stuff! *Fanboi drool*

Oh - and for the record - even though my TV does all those cool things, like most people, I rarely use the features. That’s why most people on this thread take a pragmatic view: Apple can copy features that exist in all kinds of other devices and cram them into one device, but most people just, you know, watch TV.

It’s kind of like the leather tool on your Swiss Army knife when you were a kid. Neat that your knife had it, but maybe 0.1% of the people actually used it.
