Good for him. They could have given him a concussion and he would have gone through all that concussion protocol stuff.

Make it hurt. It wasn’t part of the game, it was assault with intent; they’re not kids and shouldn’t be treated as such.

Local reports are that the assistant coach told them to make the ref pay for costing them the game. If that’s the case he needs to face tougher penalties than the players. It’s one thing for a teenager to make a bad decision it’s something totally different when they’re egged on by an adult.

Heard on local Dallas sports radio today that the two players went to an assistant coach before the play to accuse the official of saying racial slurs and the assistant coach said something to the effect of, “He has to pay for that.” The sports guys then said that the assistant coach has been placed on leave pending the investigation.

After the ref threw out the wrong player, the coach kept one of the offenders in the game. That player later got called for a late hit on the QB. This is inexcusable. The coaching staff needs to be let go, and they need to cancel the season.

What about one party admit they were wrong and apologize to the ref, coaches, teachers, parents, and alumni. Then sit out a few games and maybe run around the practice field a few hundred times each day to keep in shape. Add in a some licks and some extra homework for the approval of the masochists in the crowd and that should just about do it.
Naw, that would never work...too old fashioned for today’s overly sensitive youth.

I don’t blame the Ref. He could have been really seriously injured.

It is not unusual for there to be 20-30 sheriff’s deputies at a big high school football game. There are usually two deputies or cops at volleyball matches.
To: Extremely Extreme Extremist
You would, too, given that the football players that hit him wore full football gear (full padding and helmet) and the referee didn't. That was a HIGHLY dangerous situation that could have gotten the referee very seriously hurt.

By all means, press charges.
Disgraceful thug behavior needs to be addressed and punishment needs to be a deterrent for other would-be thugs.
