Isn’t this similar to what Trump had suggested? Maybe they talked! ;-)
(Trump had suggested to let her deputies sign the licenses...as he sympathized with her beliefs and desire to not have her signature a part of this.)
I guess the federal tyrants and “compassionate” crowd on the Left are pleased with themselves. What was the Left’s favorite phrase in the 90s? “Mean spirited”. Well, it sure describes them— the hypocrites.
It is a common sense solution for sure. No need for the drama today.
It’s always been about seeking public approval of private matters, only mental cases require the approval of others for private matters.
I guess I’m a little confused. I read that other clerks wanted to sign the licenses, but she wouldn’t let them? If this is her main issue and they were willing, then just what is her real motive?
“Way past time for Christians and/or the silent majority to push back.”
In 1990 gays tossed condoms after a ceremony at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston.
Nothing was done.
.
I don’t think they wanted to sign the licenses. They were willing to issue the licenses, which have Davis’s pre-printed signature on them. By KY law it has to be her signature.
She needs relief from the KY Law to be able to issue a license that doesn’t have her signature of approval on it.
I think I read KY lawmakers are thinking about passing something.
are lesbos sodomites should there not be an all inclusive name for this group....?
Oh Crap I for got
HOMOSEXUALS... ?
After all of the threads on this you still haven’t caught the fact that Davis said she didn’t want her name on the certificates. That’s what this is about!
Apparently a lot of people are ignoring this simple fact as did judge Bunning.
Kentucky law requires the county clerk’s name on the cert to be valid, she said she didn’t want to endorse something against her morals or validate it by having her signature appear on the cert. No state law has changed here, this is just based on the supreme court’s edict that homosexual marriage is the law of the land because 5 of the black robed tyrants deemed it so.
Hang the judge in effigy in the back of a pick up truck and drive around town.
Good publicity. Makes the news. A little demonstration never hurt anybody.
Exactly. They know EXACTLY what they are doing.
If they were really interested in just a marriage license, then they'd take it from anyone. But they're not. They have an agenda and are milking it for all they're worth.
Great will be her reward in heaven.
Good idea.
Maybe cap it off with a stop in front of the courthouse, tar and feather the effigy and then burn it.
Just a demonstration, and far far less than Farrakhan’s exhortations to “stalk & kill”, nothing of the sort here - just a demonstration, a symbol of contempt.
So, they are now issuing licenses, and whose name is attached to those? Is it a stamp with her name on it? Or a deputy clerk?
The couples who were petitioning for a license have received licenses signed by other clerks and gone on their way.
All these folks have to do is resign. I would resign before I signed a gay marriage certificate.
It’s not enough for her to dodge the issue. She must publicly make the preposterous announcement that a gay “marriage” is in some sense similar to a real marriage. She must bow to political correctness and worship at the alter of liberalism - the bastion of intolerance.
Mark for later
From what her lawyers have said, the deputy clerks are issuing licenses that were pre printed with her name on them. This is what she objects to - her name being used to legitimize something she believes is immoral.
Oh my. I wouldn’t hesitate one little bit to believe that one of these deputies hopes she loses her job because one or more of them want that cushy, $80,000 a year position. They’ll sign gay licenses all day long for that amount of money. By the way - isn’t that quite a high salary for a clerk of courts in Kentucky?
