Donald Trump is taking a lot of heat from people who would like to see him support the dear lady, Kim Davis, in Kentucky. Those same people, if they think about it are asking him to commit political suicide. Trump is right, for now. Sorry. Everyone, and I include myself, is disappointed, but not surprised that 4 liberal justices and one who has always been sympathetic to the 'queer class' decided that homosexuals are a minority and deserve the protection of law and equal rights. They have also ruled that the crucial parts of the 'Defense of Marriage Act' are unconstitutional. Deal with it like adults fellas. The lady in Kentucky has every right to 'civil disobedience', if that's what it is. Others say that she is the only one actually obeying the law. In other words there is no Kentucky Statute authorizing her to give a license to a homosexual couple. She may be right on that, but it will be a long slog through the courts to prove it, by which time the election will be decided. Civil disobedience on a massive scale however would not reverse the legal process. The only way that marriage will ever be legally defined as 'between a man and a woman' in the country again would be through an amendment to the constitution, which is not going to happen when you consider the demographics, the support for and promotion of LGBT in the media and educational system, and the Federal bureaucracy. Or, perhaps, a few states could try seceding again. Donald is smart. He wants to get elected. We can't be dumb enough to ask him to die for what is, unfortunately, a lost cause. The problem here is that absolute moral judgements, not backed by the authority of divinity are just strong opinions. And, in the court of public opinion and in the court of law the opinion that gays should be denied marriage benefits has lost; and we no longer have a majority of people in this country who are committed to the absolute authority of the God revealed in the Bible. If you want to turn this country around in a moral sense... get off of Trump and get on your knees. In the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley is a Bible that he treasured and got from his mother. In it's glass case the book is opened and verses are underlined... they read... "...if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chron 7:14
If he went ahead and used the word ought or should to describe what she is being pressured to do, this is tone deaf at the least when he needs to be singing on key.
This doesn’t look like a “let’s see what develops and then I’ll comment” attitude to me.
I support Kim’s right to refuse. She should step aside.
Just remember one thing: When concealed carry laws are passed in states and local sheriffs or police departments refuse to comply....how do we feel?
Government should be removed from marriage completely. Instead, government can issue a short-form contract that bestows legal status to another person (or persons) for the purpose of the law. A meaningless piece of paper.
Let marriage be a religious ceremony only carried out in private.
That is the answer.
You don't fire elected officials elected, in part, for her religious beliefs.

Some think that the Kim Davis battle is the wrong hill to die on because they themselves either don’t agree with her or will never have the courage of their convictions to provide enough evidence to be put in jail. For others of us, this is a paramount issue—primarily because it is the tip of the spear in this generation’s war against God, but also because we anticipate that we will likely one day end up in jail because of our beliefs. Those who don’t have those beliefs worry more about marginal tax rates and such like. Sheep and goats. Wide road and narrow road.
Nobody, Christians, conservatives or people on the right have been in the streets for anything horrible foisted on us. Why would they start now?
One would think that all the things Obama has done would have gotten an “in the streets” response.
What you have essentially just said is that Christians are now ineligible to hold certain public offices.
Why not use both the 1st and 10th amendments in her defense.
nope. i’m afraid you’re going to find out, along with all trump appologists, that ultimately no one who mocks God, accomplishes anything of real value in this world.
He may be an id10t but I’d wager he’s smarter, certainly shrewder, than you.
Our enemies are the progressives here. If they can put Christians in jail for being Christians, trying to stop the invasion is futile.
At this point, asking government to regulate marriage is a farce. And yet some will want it to keep on lest things deteriorate to underage relationships, incest, and the like.
The devil threw a stinkbomb in the middle of the land and now its smell is all over.
People are going to learn the hard way what the reason was for the “old idea” of marriage.
He is taking the safe course of action.
I think we will all take the safe course of action until we have no possible alternative, and then we won't be safe no matter what we do.
Interesting response, that.
I would say that it worked out pretty well for her in the end. Catherine kept every bit of her dignity and was true to her God in the midst of much adversity. Kind of like Kim Davis.
You might want to go the craven coward's route and dismiss our Constitutional freedoms so you can continue to worship at the altar of a Manhattanite shyster.
I'll have none of it, though.
Some good points. I read by scrolling one line at a time so doable that way and worth reading.
Just curious, would you stand against the religious establishment that forced speaking in tongues and the other gifts of the Spirit out of the Church in the first century in order to keep authority and power in the hands of ‘those who know better’?
You’re right. Cruz is not what he appears to be. Ultimately, he’s a Bushie. And his wife is CFR. But he knows how to throw red meat to the Christian right, and keep them salivating.
What is it you mean by "vanity" post? I am unfamiliar with this usage of the word in this context. Please enlighten me.
Of course I have considered the other point of view. It is to obey your masters. I don’t think so.
