Did I hear Rush say that we should be willing to vote for Trump even with all of his baggage and left leaning positions and support for Democrats!?
He said the RNC told us to support McCain and Romney (and I think he threw Bush in there) so we should have no trouble supporting Trump.
That's some kind of rallying cry for conservatives.
So would someone please tell me what Trump stands for (other than saying he'll build the fence and deport gang members), and why (other than you want to believe that he has changed) why anyone would trust him.
I'll give you 2 reasons why I know Donald Trump finds it easy and appropriate to lie. (Current history - I'll leave the long, documented list of his liberal ideological positions aside for this exercise, along with Trump's long, documented list of his support for elected Democrat leaders.)
1. He lied (more than once despite it having been proven a lie) that Wisconsin was doing poorly and that it was because of Scott Walker.
2. He lied about a Walker supporter coming to him asking to take him on to his campaign because he wanted to leave Walker.
And here is a third because it is about FReepers willing to repeat lies about candidates to promote their candidate.
If you believe that your candidate is the best thing for the country, then there should be NO REASON to actively spam threads of other candidates with lies.

You’re right. Trump never says he’s a really, really rich guy. He never says he’s a really, really smart guy. He has a real Christian humility. He never says that people who don’t agree with him are stupid or losers. I think he’s got the type of humility that makes him understand that the US Presidency is a dignified position. He has that y and decency and that has helped him raise up his three foreign trophy wives. These things prove that he is just one of us regular conservatives.
At least Walker has a good voting record, unlike your US Chamber Lapdog, Cruz.
If he's elected, one presumes that the Republicans would remain in control of the House (at least - we have a big majority there). Likely, Republicans will also maintain Senate control. Heck, their majorities will probably expand. So how, exactly, is an impeachment going to happen then?
As for Dem rule for good, I'd be a WHOLE LOT more concerned about a much more realistic possibility, one which has been planned for about 50 years, which is a massive change in the electorate brought about via immigration. Get amnesty for 30 million or more illegals, and tens of millions of new Dem voters come into our political process. Where's the Constitution going to be then, when they can shut us out of the White House for 20 or more years and elect another Obama-type who will run roughshod over it? You want to preserve the Constitution? Yes? Good, so do I! Let's stop amnesty, let's get rid of as many illegals as possible, let's stop the birthright citizenship BS, let's end anchor babies...in short, let's try to reverse what the anti-Constitutional Dems have foisted on us since the 1965 Immigration Act. Do those things, and the electorate will be a good deal more conservative in 5 or 10 years - and then the Constitution will be a lot safer.

No, you support the candidate who's head is so far up Trump's Rump that people think Donald grew a Hispanic ass for the campaign.....well, in a way he did gain a hispanic ass.
Trump is believed to be far more conservative than any of them?
No, don’t think most believe that. At best Trump has conservative leanings. He is likely a moderate democrat. On some very important issues he is very conservative. Like his stance on the wall and illegals.
Trump has a history of winning. He says he wants to win.
The choices as they stand now is. The GOP choice Bush is at 8%. The solid conservative,Cruz, is at 8%. The other conservative candidates are even lower.
Carson is around 13% is unproven and not as solid conservative as some would like either.
Trump is around 30%.
So, unless something serious happens to change those numbers your choices are take a chance on the solid conservative who is the number do not pick up will likely lose.
Or, Trump who is not perfect but could very possibly win.
At least at this point in time.
That's a big IF to trust to a man who is so flawed and flexible and narcissistic.
I too see this as a terrible tipping point but I do not see Donald Trump as the answer.

I agree with you...for the most part. However, how are things going now? How are those Republican majorities in the House (2010: "We just need to get control of the purse-strings and we can shut Obama down.") and the Senate (2014: "We have to be able to pass laws to shut Obama down.") working out for you? I'd say not so well.
The simple fact is that the politicians of this country - virtually all of them, definitely from both parties - have miserably failed the people of this country for over 50 years. The Dems are outright against the values and ideals of the Founding Generation, and the Republicans are so corrupt as a group, and so desperate to be accepted or loved, that they can't stop the Dems even when they have the power. What is the use of continuing to slip and slide down the oily, teflon-coated slope that we're on?
It has been said that war is too important to leave to the generals. That may be true, or not, but I can definitely state after watching the politics of this country closely for the last 3 1/2 decades that "Politics is too important to be left to the politicians." It is time for a change - a big change - in the status quo. LIFE ITSELF IS A GAMBLE - and if we know that more of the same is simply not going to work, then why keep doing the same thing over and over and over and over again?

Which of these candidates - who actually has a snowball's chance in Hell of winning - is NOT flawed and narcissistic to some degree or other? Which of them - again, with a serious chance to win, can be the answer?
I like Ted Cruz - a LOT. He's both a fighter and a Constitutionalist...but I don't know that he can win nationally. Maybe you and a lot of people like you could feel more comfortable if Cruz is Trump's Veep or A.G.??

Funny, that’s what the Cubans said when they were showering Fidel with rose pedals. Then, Surprise! History is full of examples like that. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it, and then some.
I am not going to vote for Trump in the primary (unless he is the only remaining alternative to Kasich, Jeb or Christie). I just don’t trust him.
But I am willing to vote for him in the General over any conceivable Democrat candidate.
