I’ve only known a few people from Carolina-north or south- but one thing I’ve noticed about their speech/dialect is that they have a different drawl than we do here, and the vowel sounds are dragged out more and with a softer emphasis. Our Texas drawl has a harder sound and is not so dragged out.
They don’t pronounce the “r” in understand.
That guy in Virginia was also an umbrageous leftist. Something I predicted — they will find racism, misogyny, etc. even in the drinking water. Unfortunately that guy’s paranoia had fatal consequences.
