She should find another job if she doesn’t want to do the job she is assigned to. It’s really that simple.

If she doesn’t want to hand out licenses to people, don’t get a job in the license bureau. If she has a problem with marking Jews, then she should find another job.

so there is no room for being principled in our workplaces? the answer is just to slink off to somewhere where they don’t make demands contrary to our beliefs?

People have gone to prison for doing what the state required of them. There is a higher truth than state law. Employees are ultimately required to stand with higher truth, not with the law.
