Whatever happened to all those Waco bikers? You know, the 177 people arrested at the Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco, Texas after a motorcycle rally on May 17 ended with nine people shot dead?
Immediately following the shooting, I wrote about just how badly Waco authorities screwed up the arrests. Rather than trifle with technicalities like the rules for bail under the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, Justice of the Peace Pete Peterson set bail at a staggering $1 million for each of the arrestees in order to send a message. Then I described how prosecuting nearly 200 bikers was crushing the criminal justice system in McLennan County and costing taxpayers a fortune.
Why did the story fade from public attention? Whats come out since the story broke?
As it turns out, its no accident that you havent heard more about the Waco biker debacle.
First, lets look at two developments that seem like they would be informative, but actually arent.

Its the kind of logic people asking for big money hate. Law enforcement has one incident 15 years ago and is still using it as justification for millions of dollars in toys.
Just because 20 years ago a few bikers were into crime doesn’t mean these guys were. Any more than it means the cops murdered these guys because the cops in Miami had recently gone bad.
People might be willing to listen if they hadnt arrested everyone, and given everyone the same bond, and basically acted like a tinpot dictator in mexico
You really haven't been paying attention for a few decades then:
Public Biker Shootout in Stockton CA- 2015
Public Biker Shootout in Athens GA - 2014
Public Biker Shootout in Chino Valley AZ - 2010
Public Biker Shootout in Birmingham AL - 2014
Public Biker Shootout in Laughlin NV - 2002
Public Biker Shootout in Fresno CA - 2013
Public Biker Shootout in Custer SD - 2006
I could keep going, but I think that's enough to make the point.
Outlaw biker gangs specifically do charity work like that, “Toys for Tots”, etc, because it is good PR.
Just because they can be nice when they want to be does not mean they aren’t just as vicious as any other criminal gang.
When’s the last time you heard about a biker gang doing a no-knock warrant on somebody and level a weapon at some innocent kids.
That happens quite a bit.
I also remember when that cop shooter was running loose in LA, and two ladies had their blue truck shot up because it matched the description of the cop shooter.
That’s gang behavior. Sorry, but it is.
They didn’t arrest everyone, there were a lot more bikers there that day who weren’t arrested, because the police had no reason to believe they were involved.
The bail gripe is about the only one people are throwing around that I think has any legitimacy. If people focused on that issue, I don’t think there would be much conflict of opinion. It’s all the other crazy theories or flat out false information being spread that stinks up these threads.
“using Google”
Go ahead and google AMDG&BVMH and tell me how my personal email account was obtained? Hmmmm??
Those advocating civil liberties for those at Waco, should extend the same courtesy to fellow FReepers.
Fortunately the Admin Moderator deleted the post that intended to share my private email account. Fortunately it was also an obsolete email account.
Being worried about the next crisis of civil liberties, does not give those so concerned, the right to trample on the civil liberties of others in the mean time.
Or what are these threads all about, anyway? HEY! Just asking!
They arrested 177 people, same charges. Identical.
The bail “gripe” isn’t a gripe. Its a violation of the law and those individuals rights.
Perhaps the police could explain why they were there seemingly set up for an ambush, in Waco no less.
I guess you're another one who hasn't been paying much attention to biker gangs the last few decades. My post #223 might be of interest.
Be my guest, as I already said, I stand by everything I said in those posts, feel free to post them whenever you like (as long as you ping me).
“Whens the last time you heard about a biker gang doing a no-knock warrant on somebody and level a weapon at some innocent kids.”
Um, criminals don’t serve warrants in this country, so I’m not sure what your point is.
Just because you might not like the way some cops behave (hey I don’t either) does not mean that criminal biker gangs don’t exist, or that they didn’t start a public shootout with each other that resulted in multiple deaths.
“They arrested 177 people, same charges. Identical.”
Yes, organized crime charges tend to be identical, by their nature, since it’s a variety of conspiracy charge. Everyone involved in a conspiracy is complicit, by law, to the same degree as everyone else in the conspiracy.
“The bail gripe isnt a gripe. Its a violation of the law and those individuals rights.”
Well, I used the term “gripe” informally, as in “complaint”, you know? If you want to complain about the bail, I really don’t care. I just don’t see it as anything to get really worked up over.
“Perhaps the police could explain why they were there seemingly set up for an ambush, in Waco no less.”
They already have, but if you won’t believe them, what is the point of repeating the explanation?
“But here again you come out with the playing dumb act, trying to excuse yourself for accusing all who were arrested as belonging to criminal biker “gang”.”
WTH. Just a few posts ago I positively did NOT try to excuse myself.
“I notice you skip over that part, while reaching towards and focusing only upon some 60 individuals you’ve here of late taken to mentioning, who were allegedly present, but for whatever reasons (including arriving so late the party was already over, I take it) were not arrested.”
hmmm. I also skipped over the part where the Bandidos executed a bunch of their own in Canada.
Duh. Can’t include everything in every post.
Were you there? I have heard that there was other people that were not involved with the gangs but arrested with them. I also heard the cops fired first. Don’t know if any of that is true, but there is no way of knowing as the DA seems to be sitting on all of he evidence as the people in jail rot with no differentiation between gangsters and just plain old patrons.
Something doesn’t smell right. And I’d bet you dollars to donuts that if it was Ferguson style rioters instead of bikers, that the cops would let them riot.
“Or did the police bring assorted knives to stab the bikers with themselves? Seems like a gaping hole in their conspiracy theories.”
At least two have already addressed this. It was the undercover cops stabbing and punching to start the riot.
The probably had infrared reflectors on their knives and vests so that the 200 snipers on the rooftops with modified .30 caliber AR-15’s wouldn’t shoot them.
Funny thing that, considering you spent a good portion of yesterday trying to claim you didn’t say what those posts clearly state.
YOu must be scared of the boogieman
The boogieman? No, but I do recognize that criminal gangs tend to fight with and murder each other, and that includes criminal biker gangs. The biker gangs in particular have no qualms about doing so in very public places.
Actually, probable cause is a big concern as well.
Judge Sullivan: Some Arrests at 2004 RNC Lacked Probable Cause
And in the linked matter, took eight years to get right.
There are posts on this board right now that are enough "probable cause" to allow a zealousDA to charge hate crime. Hear me now; remember me later.
