It sure looked like she was bit by the drug dealer zombie.

I hope at some point this season Carol will ditch the casseroles and the flowered sweaters and get back to her tough clothes and boots.

Did you see the commercial for TWD at the beginning of this show-—the one with Daryl, Michonne, Carol, and Rick in sort of a strobe light flash? I loved it.

I haven’t read the comics, but I visit spoilthedead.com; it has lots of talk about comic spoilers. Plus the site has a solid source on TWD set who always leaks show spoilers ahead of time.

Learn some manners, newbie. What you're doing is known as "hijacking" a thread. NOT COOL.

And FYI, on FR we don't provoke fellow freepers on a thread just because things got heated on a previous (completely unrelated) thread.

My comment hijacked your thread? I didn’t know my own strength. I’ll return you to your “safe zone”. LOL!

Here’s my take FWIW, notwithstanding the need to establish the main characters.

Since we (regular fans of TWD) all know that once the virus started everyone is infected, though we don’t really know that it causes any one to die in of itself. But once infected and someone dies, it re-animates the dead into zombies within a few minutes to a couple of hours. So where were all of the zombies? This is L.A. and I’m sure they probably have a death rate of at least 100 people a day. Since they don’t autopsy anyone that fast these people would be turning and feeding and creating mores zombies at an exponential rate. Even the old guy in the hospital bed would have turned by the end of the first day.

Yet the only thing on the news was the guy in the car accident. For weeks the network has been teasing us with the radio broadcast saying there is a nasty flu going around and people in 5 state are affected but they just started the show and had some minor references to people being out sick. But what are their symptoms? A low grade bite will slowly consume the body with a fever until the person dies which is generally about 24-36 hours, but the unbitten in the TWD show no symptoms whatsoever.

I guess that was what was most disappointing, because as TWD fans we know what happens. This show is supposed to be the 5-6 weeks that took place as Rick was in the hospital in a coma. So in the first 3 days there are only 3 zombies in all of L.A.? Pretty slow outbreak. I would like to think they would show a scene from the CDC or something where it represents patient zero and then the government cover-up to keep it under wraps, again because we know that the CDC finds out that it can’t be controlled.

Even if they were going to spent the whole 90 minute first episode developing characters, they should have put more emphasis on the 5 state flu, some “bizarre happenings” news accounts, mixed with them coming into contact with the zombies. Based upon the end of the show last night, I predict that they will still be in some form of denial for the next 2 episodes, they will try to keep their family together for safety, until episode 4 when the SHTF big time, which by then it will be too late to get out of L.A.

Again, on FR we don't bring our freakin fights (and insults) from a previous thread onto a new thread - especially when the thread topics are totally unrelated.

Just a little useful advice to (another) big mouth newb with no manners.

Not that you asked me, but I LIKE the "Harmless Carol" character. Because you just know, sooner or later, she'll need to pick up a rifle and go Full Rambo Mode...

Did you see the scene of her scaring the bejeezus out of the little kid last year? That actress does "menacing" very well, I think. Even more so than Darryl.

That scene was mind-blowing. Melissa McBride is a fantastic actress.

Is it a coincidence that so many actors on that show are from the British Commonwealth. Hmmm...The cast looks very Benetton, which must be some kind of directive. ( I’m a motley American, too, so I notice these things when it looks like a like a formula.)

All not very good actors. I prefer the cast from the original recipe TWD.

Carol is a chameleon. If you think about it, “You don’t get both, sunshine, “ said to Rick, was double-edge. She is a fierce survivor and so loyal. But she is tweaked. She can wear both junior league clothes and combat Carol. She rocks that short grey hair too.

It would be interesting if she takes more of a leadership role in Alexandria, even among the original inhabitants.

Thanks for the heads up on spoilthedead. It is still months away.

IMO, Carol’s ability to change based on the circumstances is a survival defensive mechanism that she learned when she lived with Ed. It’s serving her very well in this post apocalyptic work they live in!

So far the only character we really like is Travis.

I kinda liked Tobias (pimple faced kid with the knife).

I thought the daughter texting the boyfriend "you better be dead" was a nice touch too ;) (being black, we all know which way THAT went ;)

Nick does a good job, but wow, is he feminine-looking.

yeah, he reminded me of a young Johnny Depp at times. There is a theory floating around online that the reason he is so thin and feminine looking is that the director is trying to create a metaphor about heroin chic and zombies. That may be overthinking it.

I liked Tobias. I don’t know how long he’ll be around, though, because, well...you know...cardio.

Yeah, that text message is going to come back to haunt the daughter...the boyfriend is history.

Johnny Depp, that was him exactly.

Uh, yeah, I agree that someone’s imagination is running wild, LOL.

I’d like to fast forward two years and see who’s still alive. I wonder who will become a bada##, swinging a katana and flicking the blood off the blade.
