Please tell me if you think Netflix's basic service is worthwhile. If you have it, do you regret it or recommend it? I know they have plenty of movies, but do they stream any current TV shows after they air on cable (say next day, or something like that)?
Resounding, like it very much
Dropped Dish and took the 8.99 a month Netflix
Also have Amazon Firestik because we have had the Prime thru Amazon for ages
Netflix loads better than Firestik where I am at MOST of the time
Love the classics if offers and TV series
A not looking back. Saving $120+ a month and loving it.
If you or someone in your family is a college student, Amazon Prime is $50 per year and that includes movies, free shipping etc.
Yes. Lots of TV, we don’t watch the movies so much.
Is it worth $7.95 a month?
My kids think so. They watch it all of the time.
There are some new things on it, but mostly old TV and even older movies. I suggest getting it for a few months. Keep track of what you watch.
If you are using it three times a week, it’s worth it.
The TV shows are about a season behind but that's not a problem for me as I don't care about seeing them when they air on TV. I'm still a couple seasons from finishing shows like "Lost" and "Sopranos" and those shows have been off the air for years.
If you want to consider Netflix, you first need to hash through which side you want: home delivery or streaming?
Personally, I like to collect movies, but want to see them before I buy them. Or more than see, I want to examine them, for quality, extras, if the video is sharp and the soundtrack is quality. So for me, home delivery is a must.
You need to compile a long list of disks you want, which can be problematic after a few years.
I’ll be signing up for Netflix in Sept in order to watch the 4th season of Longmire. It was cancelled by A&E channel and picked up by Netflix. Great crime drama series set around a Wyoming sheriff, but you have to start watching from season 1 to understand what’s going on. It will be worth the $9 a month.
Can’t wait for the new season to start.
Great thread!!!
Just something I ‘d like to toss out—your local library probably has a fairly decent selection of DVDs (and cds for the music lover)..my library has new movie dvd releases and even old tv series, even old radio shows..and it’s all free!!
depends upon the kind of movies you like.
streaming: the only ones we watch are tv series
for movies we use neflix dvd
Have it, like it. I am on a limited data plan and Netflix is the only streaming service that allows me to throttle bandwidth down. At 300 to 400 megs a movie, the video is clear and quite affordable.
Amazon will deliver as fast as your link will take, at 6 gigs a movie it’s cheaper to go to the movie in a theater, and I can barely see the difference.
Not good for TV Shows, for the data, I would rather watch movies.
Yes. 1. Availabilily of old TV series. 2. Movies sometimes good choice sometime not so much but always a variety. 3. British TV series. 4. Netflix only content is often excellent.
We also have Amazon Prime. Rarely watch regular TV/cable.
It’s so-so.....tons of B rated movies but there’s usually an addition of decent movies too every week....no Godfather or Casino....if you like cooking reality shows there’s plenty of that and some classics like Twilight Zone and The Munsters Lol....
Same thing that is wrong with meth, it’s addicting and rots your brain. Meth at least does not rot your soul...
Worth what? It’s dirt cheap and can replace most of what your cable box has
True story.
No complaints here....and we still use the mail...always quick on the return movie.
It is good, you will love her when she defines "altruism"
Let me know how you like it, if you get a chance....would love to hear what you thought of it.
As far as I know, Netflix does not stream current shows (if they do, they aren’t shows I’m watching). That being said, we’ve had them for several years, and get both the streaming and DVDs (some things are only available on DVD). Overall, great service. I’ve only ever had one DVD go missing after I shipped it back, and there’s a way to report you’ve shipped it if that occurs. No charges for it, unless it becomes a pattern.
“If you want to consider Netflix, you first need to hash through which side you want: home delivery or streaming?”
Most definitely streaming! We have no more room for collecting anything (other than dust!).
I canceled because of the horrible stuff they create.
No for me.
