L.A. relocation could set up clash of titans among NFL owners
The Los Angeles Times ^ | August 11, 2015 | Sam Farmer

The NFL's meandering road back to the nation's second-largest market wound through Chicago on Tuesday, with team owners hearing the competing Los Angeles stadium pitches for the first time.

A league that goes to great lengths to avoid pitting owner against owner — revenue sharing, salary cap, and cross-ownership rules that preclude owners from fighting over the sports dollar in the same cities — is now bracing for a clash of the titans.

"I guess you could use the metaphor of musical chairs, and there's a bit of that going on," said Steve Tisch, co-owner of the New York Giants and a longtime L.A. resident. "The home [markets] haven't made their presentations to their respective clubs, so that's still a bit of a moving target. The presentations made today were really well done."

St. Louis is the obvious choice since that city and region appears destined for ruin in the wake of the ongoing (never ending?) Ferguson riots.

I want the Rams back. Period. I will not compromise on that.

Man, I have a hard time believing that the owners would screw St. Louis after they’ve gone out on such a limb to be accommodating - kind of sullies their reputation with other home markets, you know? (Not that I agree one way or another - just saying.)

I want a team in San Antonio. It needs to be named the San Antonio Bandits. And I only Bandits because the San Antonio Redskins doesn’t sound right.

I’m a lifelong Rams fan residing in Georgia. I would say that Los Angeles is their proper home.

Is "San Antonio Raiders" close enough?

“Is “San Antonio Raiders” close enough?”

I could work with that.

Go ahead and take them. After 6 of the players came out on the field during the starting line up doing “hands up don’t shoot” I sat good riddance.

I'm all for anything that might peel off some Cowboys fans. I am a Rams fan largely because I am anti-Cowboys.

I don’t see why cities are expected to pay for and build stadiums for NFL teams, just for the prestige of having NFL football in your city.

This is a key factor with the LA relocation talk, the fact that each team mentioned is having difficulty getting a new stadium built with public money in their current city.

Unfortunately, the home of the Alamo has been overrun with illegals, who will soon take over the Alamo again. The only team that would ever go there is a football team transferring from Mexico to the new and expanded Mexico.

I’m a Cowboys fan who was anti-Ram until they moved to St Louis, then I gave them the benefit of at least neutrality. Curt Warner made me a bit of a fan for a while. If they move back to LA, I’ll hate them again. ;)

Go away, NFL We don’t need you. LA already has two fine football teams, the Occidental College Tigers and the USC Trojans.

The Los Angeles Rams.

That just naturally rolls off the tongue, and seems so familiar.

GO DOLPHINS!

Taxpayers should not be building stadiums for these people

Then we will call them the San Antonio Banditos.

That would REALLY work if they get to play in the new Frito-Lay Stadium.
