Set in LA rather than the Georgia backwoods, the six-episode inaugural season of FTWD starts off like a family drama, albeit one with close-ups of bloody, half-eaten faces.
Our heroes are a newly blended family headed by divorced English teacher Travis (Cliff Curtis) and widowed guidance counselor Madison (the perpetually stone-faced Kim Dickens).
Meaning the adults will face not just hordes of flesh-chompers, but hormonal teens. Its hard to tell which is worse.
More important, the action takes place during the onset of the zombie apocalypse yep, the one whose aftermath weve spent five seasons exploring on the mothership show. At last, we see what happened when the world went topsy-turvy and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) was in a coma.
Practically speaking, this means that viewers are always a step or 10 ahead of the FTWD characters to the point that the most common thing youll yell at the screen is: Dont get any closer, you idiot!

Of course I was referring to Atlanta as an
entity in the Walking Dead program. I have
never been there and don’t know enough to
comment on the real town.
>>My wife and I used to love Forever. Why they cancelled it is beyond us to understand.<<
I have the same feels for ‘Firefly’ still after all these years.
I’m going to give the new show a go..might be good.
Looking forward to the new season of WD
When did it start getting good?
Son works here in Atlanta building sets for TV shows and movies (no, not TWD, darn it, at least not yet) Maybe he’s ruined me because now all I see when I watch this is the guys behind the scenes, strewing stuff around (artisticly!!!) and choosing what short, billowy, sheer blouse to put on the boy to showcase his abs. If they only knew.....a druggie?? He disgusts me. Him and his enabler mother. Blended family?? No, just a couple of people shacking up, that’s not blending your family. Commit, then we’ll talk.
This looks like it’s going to be awesome!
Oh, don't get me wrong...I get grossed out. I'm always putting my hands over my eyes. Those tongue things are horrible.
(For any TURN fans out there, I still can't watch when Simcoe breaks the ranger's arm and scalps him).
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES! My God, I can only watch the original Walking dead so many times!
I’d like to be on your list. Thanks
The tongue things don’t bother me as much as the smaller worms. I would be freaking out thinking those worms were every wear. And I’d have UV light on everywhere!
My husband’s one of those guys that says “we know there’s zombies, just get back to the regular show”. He says he doesn’t care how they started, but I know he’ll get hooked. He wanted it to be the original cast, though, in Atlanta. Yes, that would make it hard to do two shows but he thinks they could mostly concentrate on the dead characters. He’s says he could care less about a new group but I know he’ll watch.
You’ve been added!
I haven’t seen the Harry Potter movies, but I can imagine Setrakian in them, LOL. I love that voice.
Have you noticed how Fet is always looking out for Setrakian, making sure he’s eating, etc.? I like that.
Okay, you’re right, the worms ARE worse. And the way they transfer them...you know what I’m talking about. Ugh.
BTW, have you ever seen a character in ANY show you wanted dead more than Eichhorst?
Satrakian’s (can't think of his real name!) part in Harry Potter was small, but he was in all of them. He acted like he hated all the kids and was only there to get them in trouble for sneaking out of class or their rooms, and he always had a pet cat, but in the end after all 7 movies you see he always had the kids best interests at heart. :)
FWIW: I thought the premiere last nite was LAME..
It’s a new show set at the very beginning of the zombie apocalypse, so I figured it would start out slow. However, I’m not really liking any of the characters except for maybe Travis. I’m willing to give it another couple of episodes to see if it gets more interesting.
