RIP my beloved cat Tabitha, 1996-2015.

Posted on 08/19/2015 4:03:41 PM PDT by Catmom

The greatest cat I ever owned passed on today just a few weeks shy of her 19th birthday. She was the oldest kitty I ever had but I'm afraid that's gonna make it harder to adjust to a world without her.

I could tell endless stories about her (as she could about me!).

Just wanted to post this to the Freeper community 'cause I get so much comfort here talking with like minded souls and could sure use an extra dose today.

Thank you so much :(

I remember the day I got her like it was yesterday.

She was a Christmas present for a naughty orange kitten named Pumpkin who needed someone to play with so my apartment and everything in it wouldn’t get torn up/broken any more.

He disappeared after the Nisqually earthquake in 2001 but she stayed on to be the undisputed queen of my new home...til today.

When I lost my Egyptian Mau mix, I penned a poem in her memory:
Isis was my kitty cat.
Egyptian Mau she was, at that.
Though some would call her pretty fat,
She forged a worthy lifetime stat
By killing many a hapless rat.
She now dwells in a heav'nly flat
Drinking tuna juice by that vat.
Please accept my sympathies on the loss of your longtime companion.

They never really leave us, and we never really recover.

Tabitha will be buried in a lovely pet cemetery in Tacoma...under her very own tall tree!

So sorry for your loss. The emptiness and grief are very real, they do truly take a piece of our hearts with them. I pray in time you can love another creature. Blessings.

Know how you feel. Lost a couple recently. One was 21 years, and the other was ten. The ten year old had problems from birth, and her demise had been expected for as long.

We have another 20 year old we hope will last to at least our record kitty Poo who passed at 24 a number of years ago.

Other than the 20 year old we have them from eleven on down to three still with us. Total of ten cats left now.

Usually a replacement helps matters, but if the replacement isn’t perfectly as the one that passed, well...........they have to be gotten used to.

New kitties at the pound need your help. It’s the only remedy.

How about a Siamese this time? Or a Tonkinese mix. They’re pretty smart.

We’re getting an orange striped tabby next time.

20 is real old for a cat.

Sorry for both of you. Losing a pet that’s been with you that long is hard.

So very sorry for your loss. I’ve lost two of my own in the last year. They were my oldest. 21 & 19. I feel your pain. She will always have a piece of your heart. You will see each other at the Rainbow Bridge. Condolences from myself along with Trouble and Tabbie.

Something in the water here. Pot bellied pig lived over 21, rooster over 10.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

I put down my oldest (19 years old) last October. He was everything amazing about cats all rolled into one. I still miss him, but it has gotten better with the months.

I understand how hard it is the longer they live. Every day will get better and that emptiness will go away with time.

Sorry about your loss, Catmom. Losing a pet is like losing a part of yourself.

Even though we must part with them some day, I am sure glad God made cats and dogs to be our companions. Sometimes they are more loyal and loving than any two legged creature.

Sincere sympathies. I know the feeling all too well.

Tabitha must have been very well taken care of and loved to have lived so long.
