Vanity, Are your close friends afraid of FreeRepublic ?
Me | 08/11/2015 | Zeneta

I've been hanging around FreeRepublic in since 1999 in one capacity or another and I wouldn't change a single thing. I love this place.

Recently, however, it has struck me that my attempts over the years to recruit others to join have been complete failures and I honestly don't know why.

I am curious to know the experiences of my fellow Freepers regarding this in order to learn what I can do differently.

I understand the issue of "trying too hard" and the natural push back that people have. I tried the "soft", "check it out" to the hard push for certain people but it seems that my efforts are in vain.

These are not the casual conservatives you may meet. These people, IMHO, have a ton of knowledge and experience that can contribute to FR. Extraordinary knowledge and resources that would embrace our forum but for something that seems to keep them away.

Some have expressed a concern that their comments are being "monitored", others, well I'm not really sure.

I guess, I'd like to know if any other people here have had the same experience and what if anything they were able to do or say to get your like minded friends to participate.

Your post gave me chills. I think FR recognized the first plane hitting the tower as terrorism before the plane got all the way into the building.

I’m grateful for FR and all she stands for.

If they’re afraid of Free Republic, they are not my close friends.

I stand by my statement: “Some FReepers are needlessly rude and arrogant”.

“Needlessly” is the point.

I try to explain that they need to filter out the sarcasm and noise and really get a sense of the value this place is.

I’m soo guilty of both of the above, but I’ve been here for so long.

Good evening.

I've had some friends become members of FR. Some of my friends are just not into politics, or for example, reading Drudge every day. They just have other interests. There could be any number of reasons.

"Hi," to my FRiends reading this.

Thanks, I’m still grateful for FR, too. Just wish we had all those old freepers back :-)

Yes

Most folks I show the place do fear the attacks and my fellow southern friends can’t believe some so called conservatives are so hateful towards white southerners and so PC on race

But not me

I fight

I relish it

But it’s not for everybody admittedly

I agree, but it may be an acquired taste.

FReepers are uncommonly well-informed.

And they insist on the truth coming out, by degrees if necessary. that is why the format is so wonderful: An article is posted, from the orthodox conservative or the enemy media, whichever, followed by a dissection by a panel of witty and wise people, some experts in the topic at-hand. It's a huge resource, better than Wikipedia, or any other blog.

And they are unusual in that they have a tremendous grasp of American history in a real 'nuts and bolts' way. By that I mean they understand the whole tyranny/freedom dynamic, the elite/hillbilly dynamic, the town/gown dynamic, and they understand Reagan's aphorism that the whole American Experiment can go down the tubes in a few years of fecklessness and ignorance on the part of the (few) patriot keepers-of-the-flame.

Believe it or not, I have a zillion friends who have tremendously lengthy and thorough professional educations and training regimens, and they are by any measure, accomplished as doctors, lawyers, Indian chiefs, etc. But strangely enough, the majority of them are completely clueless about the vulnerability of American society to the tyranny of the world-at-large. They are either flaming liberals, or GOPe types, or, glommy middle types who really have formed no opinions about anything political or philosophical.

They stupidly think that letting millions upon millions of selfish, backward, immigrants in from primitive, mean, corrupt, ignorant societies (most hostile to ours), into our country, and giving them limitless benefits and placing few demands on them, even to become literate in our language, let alone 'assimilate' into American society, that they will magically become loyal Americans, and the great nation will continue a free state forever.

And likewise they feel that our educational system can continue to deteriorate, our currency continue to be debased by economic policy, our moral fiber continue to rot, etc., etc., and somehow the country will survive forever. Truly mad they are.

We see approaching ruin, from massive debt, from societal decay and degeneracy, and overpowering ignorance of a people who can not judge freedom, rule of law, and love of God to be superior to atheism and communism.

We weep to see how stupid these liberals are, and we retreat to FR for some reassurance that we are not going completely nuts. And we love Trump (those of us with any sense at least do) because he is the only candidate who sees how vulnerable we are and how urgent our business is in reforming our nation. Urgent, yes, almost desperate. Trump sees it. And Trump is the only one brave enough to do something about it, in spite of the tons and tons of attacks he has endured and will endure to pursue his candidacy of reform.

Anyway most people just can't handle the weight of all this gloom. They retreat by manifesting a mix of these traits: intellectually lazy, in denial, and stone ignorant about the nature of human history. In spite of the lengthy and well-documented tragicomic history of the human race, with its myriad errors, atrocities, and all-too-slow and stultifying rate of progress, they won't even lift a finger to try to hang on to the wonderful and glorious things the Americans have done, and the incredible and exceptional blessings we have enjoyed because of our early history of loving and obeying God.

That was excellent.
It could be a great vanity post in itself, but then of course, you would also have to endure the flames from the not so hip on Trump people.
This is what we do here at least we work hard to vet the candidates.
It's a damn shame when the last percent of retards across the land actually gets pick the winner.

If only freepers got to choose!

Cruz 2016 (or Trump if that is how it pans out.)

I think it is just a matter of learning the internal rules of posting. I have been on FR for coughalmostthreetimesaslongasmyprofilepagesayscough and it is just intimidating to a lot of people.

A lot of us figure joining FR means we are put on someone’s list.

And when I link from my blog I usually post a warning.

there are some comments that are over the top, to say the least.

I’ve steered many friends to FreeRepublic.
The one I know of got zotted and vowed to never return. I personally apologized and explained how one must “work” themselves into the fabric of this site. You must be very thick skinned to belong to a great group of knowledgeable and snarkey patriots.
