Actually the mental health “system” in the USA is a disaster. There are lot more mentally ill people walking around now compered to times past. IMO most of the random shootings and massacres, like happened in Chas. SC, would never had occurred if it was ( God forbid ) easier to have someone committed. We don’t have a gun problem we have a free lunatic problem.

If you have ever had a family member who suffered from mental health issues, you could not agree more with that statement.

You do your best to help them but you run smack into the wall of HIPAA. The therapist cannot legally tell the family anything unless the patient signs a release (which often as not they won’t because, here’s a news flash...THEY’RE CRAZY!). So the family who has to care for them the remaining 167 hours per week they are NOT with their therapist is working blind. Often not knowing the diagnosis or what cocktail of meds is inducing the increasingly strange behavior you are witnessing.

Typical Congress. Don’t know jack about anything. Pass laws like they are experts on everything.
