Standard Trump Disclaimer: I don't support Trump as the nominee, I am suspicious of his former leanings. I *do* however, support Trump upsetting the Elitist Applecart.

Laz, you are right on target.

I have supported Trump because he is upsetting the DC Cartel’s plans to have a Bush v. Clinton rematch, wherein, Bush loses handily.

It has all been scripted for us.

My money goes to Cruz, but I realize Trump is performing a valuable service—the list of RINO casualties grows longer each day, thanks to him.

I can’t fault Trump for his answers Thursday night.

Within the first few minutes this is what he was hit with, on live TV before a national audience—an audience that was huge, thanks to him:

1. Brett Baier opens with his ridiculous pledge request. The ony person who answered honestly was Trump, and he gave his reason—if I am untreated fairly, why would I give up my leverage? The pledge question was designed to box Trump in. If the question was, if Trump is the nominee, would the rest of you support him? Few hands would have gone up. THAT would have been the news.

2. The yapping chihuahua Rand Paul starts in on Trump like a little kid in the schoolyard, pointing his bony finger at Trump. Trump looks at him like he would a fly, but does not lose his cool.

3. Megynocology Kelly starts in with an accusatory question about Trump and women, and unilaterally resurrects the War on Women, with a question we all know why fully vetted and approved by Fox management.

This question was also designed to take Trump out.

Trump answered it again honestly—that was Rosie O’Donnell—and the crowd roars in laughter.

Sustained laughter.

The laughter went on long enough, that as the camera pans back to Kelly, you can almost see the smoke coming out of her ears and eyes-—a discharge which is usually almost always followed by blood(OK—I made that up).

This all opens within minutes of the opening.

I admire Trump for being in the arena and taking the blows.

I admire that he answered so well.

I also know how hard it is, when you are in that position, with a multi layered accusatory question laid on you, and you are trying to formulate your response in your mind, how hard it is to get the right words out.

Trump is performing a wonderful service for America right now. I don’t really care how liberal he is—he is still a man of accomplishment and a businessman, and we could do far worse.

Cruz is my ideal nominee, and it is plain to see that everything Trump is doing, while benefitting Trump, is also benefitting Cruz.

Because if Trump is no longer in this race, the long knives are coming out for Cruz.

You can bet on that.

Anyway, Laz, all this does not take away from yet another brilliant, insightful article. Thanks.

Standard Trump Disclaimer: I don't support Trump as the nominee, I am suspicious of his former leanings. I *do* however, support Trump upsetting the Elitist Applecart.

That's where I am as well. I would suspect half or more of his support falls in the same camp.

I’ve been say that since he entered the race, was blasted for saying so from the beginning, yet and still the cannon fodder is getting worse, I like what the guy is doing turning the status quo inside out and shaking it up, but it is true that loose lips sinks ships, his switch clicks left and right and is worn from over use.

Excellent! That would have brought the house down and it would have put a stop to all the other nonsense questions.

I’ll bet Trump has kicked himself a hundred times for not saying exactly what you said.

He would have wrapped up the Presidency right there.

Whatever, That is EXACTLY what he should have said. And, I bet, what most people would have expected him to say.

Another way to approach the baited question:

"Let me tell you what's really ugly, Megyn. Ugly is Iran with a nuclear weapons program. Ugly is reducing our military into a giant social engineering petri dish and diminishing our ability to wage war and win. Uglyis being owned economically by the Chinese via exceptionally bad trade policies. Ugly is an out of control illegal immigration situation and no control of our borders for the sake of a few self interested business lobbies and for a political voting block. Ugly is the average American trying to get by in this abysmal economy brought on by bad government and bad business practices. Ugly is a President acting like a dictator and getting away with it. Ugly is the other two branches of the Federal Government enabling him to do it. Ugly is an out of control Federal Government engaged in out of control spending to feed itself and trample on the rights of the citizenry it is supposed to be supporting in the process. Ugly is the DC based oligarchy that has developed in its wake over time. That's what's ugly, Megyn, and it's about to get much, much uglier."

Agreed. This would have been the moment for Trump to have countered with “Was there a question in there? All I heard was a pointless editorial.”

Trump does upset the applecart.
Then backs up to do it again.

No one in the media is accustomed to a target that actually fights back. At most they assume the target will give a tepid response, then blubber like a baby.
They forget, Trump has been swimming with sharks his entire life.

Trump’s idea of warfare is the same as Genghis Kahn’s.
If someone opposes you respectfully, do the same.
If someone gets dirty, lay waste to them. Leave neither man, woman or child alive. Destroy their homes, crops and livestock. Burn down their town and leave a mountain of bodies in the roads leading there.

The next town will surrender without a fight.
Total war.

Perfect. He handled it well, this is perfect.

(But if he handled it this way, he might not have dominated headlines for the last 5 days.)
