Iran is buckling under the pressure of a massive heatwave passing across the Middle East, with temperatures soaring to nearly 70°C.
Scorching heat levels of 50°C have already paralyzed nearby Iraq, where officials were forced to call a four-day public holiday because it was too hot to work.
But the word hot has taken on an entirely new meaning in Irans city of Bandar Mahshahr, where it was claimed that the citys heat index, or feels-like temperature, was among the highest ever recorded.
The heat index was recorded by a group of astonished weather experts, who predict the country could be enduring some of the hottest urban temperatures ever endured by mankind.

165 Deg - you can slow cook a pork shoulder. Pity they can’t take advantage of the opportunity
Also hit by 5.4 earthquake AND a meteor.
Waiting for the swarms of locusts and such.
On the same day.
Hmm.
Iran is buckling under the pressure of a massive heatwave passing across the Middle East, with temperatures soaring to nearly 70°C.
I just love how the press goes to full hysteria by freely mixing real temperatures and the heat index. I guess they have to do something when the wind chill has taken the summer off.
but here, we haven't had a real rain since the beginning of June....
luckily, we have a good aquifer and we can keep our gardens and lawns fairly decent....
that high pressure is certainly the culprit, but admittedly, a lot of the West is usually dry in the summer....but its just worse this year, and hotter...
50C ~ 120F
Death valley has hit 138F and I’m pretty sure their humidity levels are not high enough to make it feel anywhere near 165. Global warming hype.
The heat index
It is not a record:
It is just a few degrees lower than the highest ever recorded heat index, which was 178F (81C) in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia on July 8, 2003.
The heat index is a relative number
the heat index contains assumptions about the human body mass and height, clothing, amount of physical activity, thickness of blood, sunlight and ultraviolet radiation exposure, and the wind speed. Significant deviations from these will result in heat index values which do not accurately reflect the perceived temperature.[4]
So “temperatures soar to 165F” in the headline is not true, then.
I want to do every thing i can to help, i’m going to take a friends old 2 stroke 4 wheeler that i’m working on for a ride...................thing smokes like a pig!
I lived for a while in a country that uses the Celsius temperature scale. To convert to Fahrenheit, you would mentally double the C number, subtract ten percent of its value from it, then add thirty-two. The strange thing about this is that, on stepping outside, I’d have to go through all that just to see how to feel.
Glad to see Rove has taken his weather modification ray off conservatives awhile and focused on Iran.
It’s going to get a whole lot hotter for them when they die...
Either convert or just remember that 22° is perfect, 37° is normal body temp and therefore 98.6°F ... uncomfortably hot, and 0° is freezing, so anything minus is winter coat time. Easier to just learn think in terms of what the Celsius temps feel like. Trying to mentally convert to Farenheit reminds me of our American habit of switching hands after cutting food so we can use our fork in the right hand. Then switching back to use the knife again. Wasted motion and unnecessary metal on plates noise. Easily unlearned, and if you’re a traveler in places where you don’t wish to necessarily stand out as an American well worth unlearning.
Localized GoreBull warming is a b**ch.
ditto

According to Obama's and Kerry's Iran Deal; The Iranians can work on their atomic bomb when the outside temperature is at least 150 degrees F. So if the temperature is 165 degrees F., then Iran can work on its atomic bomb freely without fear of the United States punishing Iran in some way. It is one of the secret deals.
It was 111 as we drove through Vegas this week. That’s all the warm one could want.
I wonder what 160 feels like in a black burqa.
Lying headline. 50C is not 165F
The 165F is their “feels like” temperature.
